one of my favorite providers, but I wonder how they can profit by selling vps at $15/year, while ipv4 costs $12/year :D

Not a secret but we own the IPv4 blocks that helps lower the costs.

There were eight 9999 Birthday EPYC SJC when I attempted to buy one. I was logged in everywhere. I got to pay stage in PayPal and got "Your cart is empty" upon return to GreenCloud. Well that was the closest I have got so far to getting one.

Congratulations @iamtimbo I am happy that a real person got some of them. :)

As for $15/year plans with IPv4, if VirMach can do it, they can do it too.

It doesn't really cost them $12/year. $12/year is what you'd pay to rent the block from someone else. If they already own them, it costs them $0/year.

On one hand by putting them in cheap VPS, they're losing $12/year they could get from renting it out to someone else, or maybe a few grand per /24 if they sold them, but on the other hand as prices are rising year-on-year, the value of their investment increases each year, so they're effectively earning money by using them.

I believe companies are having to justify their usage of IPs, so having them rented out to customers makes it trivial to do that, but if they had thousands of IPs allocated but not used they might be asked to return them.

  • Guys stop it, you don't need 9999 plans for an idler just buy few smaller ones!
Don't tell me you people actually use them!

I have been looking for a replacement San Jose for a while, and yes I could get by with a EPYCSJC-2 with double RAM (6GB) but the disk space would be a tight fit and that is $100 for three years. I don't need the extra EPYC cores, or the extra 3GB RAM but that extra 64GB disk space would be a big plus.

  • want 999EPYC is so bad, i wish i wasn't sleep :p

I mean that log in to my account in GreenCloudVPS as I have not logged in yet. Usually I keep it logged in before purchasing so don't need that step

Definitely jealous, congrats. Glad to see some regulars getting them at least.

  • I've realized that I have 2 invoices for 1 order of EPYC SJC. I was asking the billing department to correct 1 invoice. So maybe 1 EPYC SJC will be available later
