Is it worth to switch router? From Asus RT-AX58U to Xiaomi AX9000 or any other
Hey!
So I'm living at home with 2 floors. On each floor, I have an Asus RT-AX58U router.
The area of each floor is approximately 120 sq.m.
Asus RT-AX58U and the coverage/speed are fine, but I'm thinking of switching.
I am considering the Xiaomi AX9000 or any other that you could recommend.
Is it worth it? Will be there wi-fi speed/range improvements?
Using 1 Gbit/s connection.

I doubt if there will be any noticeable improvements, but if the router is affordable to you, then do it as you please.
I wouldn't recommend products from China, which have backdoors implanted. However if you're going to flash OpenWrt, then it may be a good choice, since the hardware itself is very powerful.
Please make a benchmark between the two if convenient.

I was planning to buy 2 of those, but as you say if there won't be any noticeable improvements, I don't think that would be a good choice overall...
If it works, don't fix it.
for speed, try Wifi6 first.

I have a RT-AX56U and it's largely enough for a small house. Is it a case of too much free time and some disposable money to spend on a cool project? In that case, why don't you buy one or those little pfsense boxes on Aliexpress (or a Dell Wyse 5070 with a Pcie 4 NIC card), build your own router with that and use the ASUS as access point?
Or as @dragonfsky said, make a mesh with two Mesh routers with a dedicated backbone, I don't think the AX58U has that.
Edit : for a proper Mesh network you need 3-band wifi routers, or something with a dedicated Ethernet backbone.

Fully working OpenWRT, no vendor crap.
If you wish to push beyond 500mbit VPN, then a separate box,
with X64 CPU, while bridging wifi to any router behind it.
I currently run Turris Omnia from 2016 batch, with 500Mbit Wireguard,
and looking to replace it with Wifi6E soon, soon means 2025

But switch to it and give the tp-shit to friends/family, you won't regret.
I bet they won't as well, getting a stable 802.11ac all over, TP-LINK are
not as bad, no sarcasm intended, for their price and casual users (no VPN).
I recently built my own openwrt core router with 4x 40g spf+ ports and 4x 10g rj45 ports.. I can honestly say it was worth it for $100 in spare parts.
