Why am I going to cancel my services with Time4VPS?

I had several storage VPS with Time4VPS, mainly 512 GB, 1TB, and 2 TB.

I have encountered various problems with Time4VPS!

The first problem is the regular price increases for no good reason.

The second problem is the OS choices:

Debien is in version 9, while the end of LTS support is June 30, 2022.
For Ubuntu, it's versions 16.04 and 18.04.
The last OS is CentOS 7.

The last problem is that VPS are running on OpenVZ (2.6.32-042stab145.3).

He justifies all the problems because they have OpenVZ, and that prevents them from using other OS. However, that doesn't stop them from raising the prices!

I've been waiting all year to see if this would change, but they still don't have any plans to change the offer.

There is an old discussion on the forum:

https://community.time4vps.com/discussion/600/storage-vps-uses-eol-software-openvz-6-and-2-6-32

Now I'm going to look for another provider.

So, the problem is that you can't pay for server which holds uptime and has older OS? Do you miss outages, scam and 0 support?

  • this looks like a golden piece of article for LowEndBlog!

MissGroup bought them. They’re now pure shit, or most probably worse.

Prices will go up much more, and support won’t know what a datacentre is.

MissGroup pays their support staff less than supermarkets pay their staff, got one of their support agents to say that to me in their actual corporate live chat lmao.

minimal support + old software + raising prices = prob a good way to gently discourage old customers?

    You could just move companies...

And not post about it publicly on the internet.

I think the openvz 6 part is of relevance for anyone else using or considering using their services. The time4eol is long overdue.

I'm having a lot of problems, it's not a good solution anymore, especially for the price asked.

    Ouch.

I have never been a Time4VPS customer, but I do visit their site from time to time because it is filled with pictures of beautiful women. And they're all wearing Time4VPS shirts. I think they only hire models there.

    As written, no.

However, a "whatever happened to Time4VPS" with info about their acquisition and problems with the service would definitely be on-brand.

This sounds like a great solution, do you know how long they have been in business?

I can lend a vps, to do some tests.

    I have a VPS with 1 TB that I don't use

Two things about the services of same company (things really didn't get better after their acquisition):

    • They automatically subscribe you to free services as trial, which no one asked for (like SEO or security tools of some sort) and at the end of trial they renew them as paid. Of course, you may not pay, but if you don't analyze your invoice, you would lose money for something you never used. Had to contact support to turn this auto-subscribe feature off.
    • I find some domain renewal prices outrageous. They were quite cheap years before, but now they are like the most expensive domain provider in the market (though you can get good deals for registering new domains). I like the simplicity of domain management and I used to their system in almost two decades, but today, considering how domain market competitive is, such pricing just doesn't make sense.

Paid peanuts and expected Ferrari 😂😂😂

On serious note: migration to new nodes should have happened and that way eventually all customers can be migrate to new nodes with up to date software so justify the increased cost.

Indeed, I also noticed it, and their Facebook is full of examples of that.

It is weird for the lack of a better word, and makes one wonder about the HR criteria.
