VMs with v4 addresses not in these /8's sought

As part of a passive network monitoring project for a US non-profit (see my sig and follow links for details), IPv4 address assignment diversity is one of the important attributes considered for hosting selection.

We're always on the lookout for low-cost VMs that will have an IPv4 address assignment in a /8 we don't currently have a presence in.

Requirements and resource minimums are pretty modest:

  • KVM is preferred, but LXC/OpenVZ/dedi/other might be considered.
  • 512 MB of RAM
  • 1 CPU
  • 10GB disk of any type
  • Minimal traffic, the equivalent of an unlimited 10 Mb/s Ethernet would be fine.
  • Ability to remote boot/reboot/re-install/VNC (not with a Java app for the love of all things holy).
  • A recent version of a standard Debian template required.
  • At least one IPv6 address desired, but not required.
  • Payment via PayPal is a must.
  • Either monthly or yearly billing is fine.
  • Ability to create user accounts preferred.
  • Provider with a public record of hosting services of at least 1 year.

If you can offer something like the above with an IPv4 address assignment NOT within these /8's, then feel free to post an offer or PM a follow up:

2, 5, 23, 31, 35, 37, 38, 41, 45, 46, 50, 51, 52, 62, 63, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 72, 74, 75, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 87, 88, 89, 91, 93, 94, 95, 96, 102, 103, 104, 109, 114, 116, 127, 128, 129, 130, 132, 135, 138, 139, 141, 142, 144, 145, 147, 149, 150, 151, 152, 154, 156, 157, 158, 159, 161, 162, 163, 167, 169, 170, 172, 173, 174, 176, 178, 179, 181, 185, 188, 190, 191, 192, 193, 194, 195, 197, 198, 199, 203, 205, 207, 208, 209, 212, 213, 216, 217

And thanks, but we already have plenty in 0/8, 10/8, 127/8, and other fun places. :-) We don't generate much traffic except for system management so we should be relatively support and hassle free customers.

  • Have a look at Greencloud. Their Jacksonville location uses 64.44.0.0/16 (Nexeon).

My WebHorizon NAT instance is under 43/8 (I am on my phone now, so can't check if its still online). Maybe @Abd could help you?

Why that weird req for IP? Some sort of SEO voodoo or spamming?

maybe stuck in the 90s and still thinking class A subnets would exist and are owned by a single corp?
This requests sounds stupid you can route /24 nowadays @op so this is all nonsense

    How does this make sense?

If you run a network monitor, why does the IP matter? what?
What you rather want, is a different upstream or "bandwidth mix".

You can have multiple VM's with a different upstream, in the same /8 range, in the same DC.

Moderator, you can close this thread. Thank you.

What about script kiddy that just increments a number? This is honeypot application.

64 isn't in the list (unless was edited from OP, which is annoying AF not to strikethrough).

You know the list is the thing they have, not they wanted?

Looking at some of my VPSes...

    • HostHatch Chicago is in 134.195.88.0/23
    • HostHatch Dallas is in 107.161.86.0/23

Although like @Neoon said, I'm not sure if the first octet of an IP address means anything these days given IPs change owners all the time. You're probably looking for different bandwidth providers rather than different IPs.

and? Unlikely that when you buy something, from a different provider, that you end up in the next /24.

If you buy something from the same provider, you could declare a preference, to be moved to another prefix.

If he buys from a bunch of providers, very very unlikely, he runs into any issues.
