Move CPanel to a new server
Hello!
I started work with a VPS that runs CPanel WHM with license for a few users. This server installed by another person a few years ago, so the system not well upgraded, but there are broken packages and problems in the system, so a reinstall is needed.
We'd like to move from CentOS7 to AlmaLinux 8. My idea is that buy a new VPS, install CPanel, and migrate the users data to reduce the possible downtime.
How can we do that with a CPanel license? Or what is the best solution in this situation to reinstall + change the OS under the CPanel with minimal downtime?

Best way would be to use 15-days trial license on the new server, move you stuff there with cPanel live transfer and when things will be up and running, transfer old license to the new IP.

If you use cloudflare dns and cpanel live transfer there shouldn't be more than 5 minutes or so of downtime per account as your new VPS with trial cPanel will be pre-configured and prepared the way you want before you start transfer.
Thank you for the reply and the useful links!:)
If you have more than 30 users .. I would recommend vultr for this transfers (their vps have licensed cpanel). Just use live transfer, option from cPanel. "Back up" your data on vultr, reinstall your server and transfer ot back. Simple and cheap! Good Luck!
