TerraHost migration from sibyl: Horrible

gzzgzz Member

I currently have a dedicated server in portugul that I bought on sibyl.

Recently terrahost has been "Migrating" sibyl customers to TerraHost.

I've found that this "Migration" is just asking you to pay invoices on TerraHost's website instead. I have $370 USD on my sibyl account still that they told me months ago that they would be working on to bring to TerraHost, but I still can't use this money that is on my sibyl account.

Now I've also been told that I will never be able to see my server in their server manager, and that soon sibyl.li's website won't exist anymore. They offered me to swap to a VPS However they don't have any locations even close to Portugal. The closest one would be the Netherlands and that is over 1000 miles away.

(Should also note that I don't have a "VPS" But a dedicated server from sibyl)

I'm honestly fine with migrations, however when they're done like this I'm not. WTF Kind of migration is this? Any other sibyl customers having issues?

This is why you don't top up with the provider.

Even if this did not happen, they would not neccessarily honor it anyway if there is a bad month in terms of income and some dude just uses previous credits to get it instead of a new buyer that uses actual money.

Annual dedicated server plans are equally stupid. There are million ways for the provider to terminate the server based on some unwritten ToS rule which never existed or which the provider added 5 mins before terminating you. He obviously won't return your remaining months and will just re-sell the server to another guy.

DMCA/Warez related hosts are most unreliable in terms of honoring credits/annual plans, but they are most reliable when it comes to privacy cause that is something which can kill their reputation. They dont care about scamming rumors from a single customer.

@stefeman said: This is why you don't top up with the provider.

"Topping up" for 2 months in advance is never really that bad of an idea IMO, I commonly forget to pay invoices quickly and I rather lose a bit of money instead of losing my entire server

It's not just the issue of the money for me (Honestly don't care that much), but its the unprofessionalism shown by them

I've also just realized//remembered they bought hostsolutions.ro, which got hacked a few months ago (Like in December 2021) due to them not even caring to migrate // maintain it correctly...

I think at this point I'm just gonna cut my losses and move hosts :s sucks that there isn't many server providers in portugul though

I just want there to be a thread when people look them up on here so they are aware that they aren't that good.

What server did you have with Sibyl? I can possibly help you. I'm from Portugal btw.

  • If you're staying with them, can't you apply the credit towards service and have the end date being 6 months from now, and then in Terrahost's system, you're paid up for those 6 months?

Otherwise, if they're giving up dedicated server sales then you should ask for refund.

Maybe we can tag @terrahost and @RobMonster. That sucks if the credit is really lost. Concerning the fact that they ask you to move to another location, this can happen. And if network is good, "1000 miles" ain't that far!

    Hey,

Sorry that you've had a bad experience with the migration. We've tried to to this as smoothly as possible, but it has been a lot to clean up and a lot of different variables going into this migration.

First I just want to say that there was a mix-up here where we did not initially see that you had a dedicated server and it was assumed it was a VPS. There is not a lot of the dedi's that you have, and thus the confusion. Sorry for that, and we cleared that up in our latest response.

Secondly, we are still working hard at implementing credits at Terrahost. The credits are not lost and has never been stated anywhere. This is a system wide integration that will be available for all customers, and thats why its taking a bit longer than expected. All customers will get their credits added to their ENIGMA account.

We can offer to deduct from the credits at Sibyl towards your invoice. Please request that for your next invoice if the system is not in place by then.

And as stated in our previous response, we will get your server integrated soon. :)
