what's disappointing is that traffic from one server to another within their datacenter is counted against your quota... rather than counting only "external" traffic from/to internet.

Annoying yes, standard for all providers though.

A select few providers offer internal traffic, sometimes on a separate interface or VLAN network with unmetered traffic, but even those often charge a monthly fee for that add-on.

    OVH has this for free.

Knew they had it, didn't know it was free? BuyVM has it free for virtual machines. Anyway, they do exist, is a rare feature, something to keep in mind when needing servers to talk to
    each other.

@1gservers why not address the one comment about counting local traffic against quota. But you address all the good comments with thanks! Just wondering.

    Refer to our public FAQ:
    https://1gservers.com/faq.html

"If you have multiple servers with us, we often can extend a private VLAN between your servers to the 2nd uplink of each server. If it is possible to do that, then traffic between servers over the private network is free and is not counted towards your normal Internet traffic. This is useful for accessing databases on other servers and transferring files between servers as quickly as possible. We typically see customers requesting this when setting up a cluster with us. Please open a ticket in our client portal to see if this is possible for your servers."

To summarize, it is usually possible, but customers would need to open a ticket ahead of time to ask if it is possible. Not all of our servers are compatible with that feature at this time.

Yeah it really depends on how the provider collects traffic data for billing purposes. Some providers count all traffic to the server's network adapter (for example, at the router the server is directly connected to) whereas others count it at their edge routers meaning only data that actually goes out to the internet is billed. Some other providers have two NICs where one is for external connectivity (metered) while the other is for an internal network (unmetered).

The prices for IPs have gone up since this post was originally created. This is due to IP pricing going up due to scarcity and auction prices.

and i want add ram to 96GB. how much ? hdd based on sata3 ?

We do not offer 96 as an option. All available options are on the order form, and the server is built according to your selections on the order form.

    Thanks!

Depends upon the system and number of drives. Please share what CPU you’re inquiring about.

This is a 6-bay server. This server uses SATA3 for first two disks, and SATA2 for the additional 4 disks.

You can choose the Dual E5-2690v4 server for 100% SATA3.

We don’t do BGP with clients at this time, however you can bring your own /24 and we will announce it for you.

Having said all that, this is an old offer thread. I’d recommend referring to our most recent offer thread, and continuing the discussion there:
