Los Angeles Update - We're signing contract with QuadraNet and they're guaranteeing setup by around end of month. Servers, including storage, will be shipped to arrive around Thursday.
Tokyo is having 5 more servers shipped today. I couldn't get the storage node out yesterday, I'm trying my best to include that with the shipment of 5 servers. I'll let you guys know if it's included or not by the time those get sent out in about 4 or 5 hours.
LA is quadrant only now? I know Pyschz sucks but quadranet is quite obscure. Are you sure they're better than Psychz in terms of both service and network quality?
edit: so called Asia-Optimized IP is worse than normal one. How is JP-UK-US through Telia Asia-optimized?
Their test download files are not working and website looks kind of fishy to me. The design, oh wait, I remember racknerd's Dustin had some issue with them.
Based on my research, they're better, but we're also keeping Psychz on a smaller scale. I just want to avoid having all of our servers there until the Amsterdam thing is resolved. If it's not resolved it's easier pulling out of LA Psychz if we already have servers with another partner.
On top of that, this is a guaranteed setup period whereas for example with Psychz it took something like a week plus after hardware arrived for them to even begin telling us that the cabinet doesn't exist. We can't afford those kind of unnecessary delays right now if we send hardware to Los Angeles and it takes 1-2 weeks to setup. I can technically go in there for Los Angeles since I'm here right now, but my time is already exhausted and want to avoid having to do that.
We did also contact SharkTech and some others but all we got back from SharkTech was an incorrect link to order cloud hosting or 3U of space and if that's how they're going to communicate, it won't work with our timelines.
Only issue we've had with them is the DC hands. CC uses them and I don't think they used their own techs, they used QuadraNet's and it resulted in some major mistakes. But if that happens in a critical situation then I'd just drive down there. It's also close to the airport so if I relocate I can fly in and have it be right there versus having to get an Uber to downtown LA in rush hour traffic, etc.
We're not getting "Asia optimized" with them. In my testing (to Japan, not China) I saw something similar to what you're describing and Psychz was better to Asia. But we do also have Tokyo and San Jose which could both be better options for Asia anyway.
(edit) I guess saying the "only issue" with a datacenter is the DC hands is a pretty big issue. But hey at least they're semi-quick.
best Japan optimized route I've seen is HE Seattle to Tokyo, latency being as low as sub 90ms and nearly zero packet loss even at peak time JST.
This is unfortunate, really not a fan of their network. Will LAX services be able to get moved to other locations?
Psychz just provided a pretty bad responses in regards to Amsterdam so as of right now, I do not think we're going to be continuing anything with them. We'll see. If we cancel Los Angeles with them we'll see if we can also have another DC in Los Angeles set up, but seeing as CC is already with QuadraNet and from my understanding already uses their blend, it should not be any different for people already in Los Angeles with us.
They've stated that they were worried we wouldn't pay since the cabinet was empty, and that they did in fact provision it but only recently cancelled it (without notifying us) as they've had clients in the past that have skipped on their contract.
Fun fact, we are paid for Amsterdam through May 9th.
So apparently Psychz will cancel your service mid-term because they're worried they cannot predict the future and we might not pay them, even though we've paid them for 14 months and through May 9th. Psychz will just discontinue your service without explanation or notice when they desire, while signing on contracts for even more services even though they're worried you may not pay them. I'm not making this up, this is the latest we've received from them.
Of course at this point I do not believe them, they definitely never set it up and are making things up.
Wow... that's a "fun" response... like the phone company terminates your line because they think you might not be able to pay the next term, midway a already paid term. Can't imagine a judge going with that, but in a condition like you're in, law may be on your side, but getting into a legal battle won't improve the relationship.
Won't the person who communicates this realize that it is flawed....?
Not likely.
So far at Psychz we have one sales person that absolutely doesn't read anything and just copy/pastes something as if she's a chatbot (Mayra.) Then we have another sales person who is human but provides old quotes/information (Jason) but at least he's pleasant to interact with to some degree. Then we have this guy that randomly shows up to tell us things as if they are and always have been facts and he seemed to have a little bit more authority but also was the one coming up with all the weird explanations like power cost increase mid-term, the PDU in Chicago being "wrong" when they're the ones that changed it, or Amsterdam being terminated because we might not pay (Jimmy.) My guess is that he showed up and said he have to pay extra for Amsterdam so the second we didn't immediately say "yes daddy, please, without any further explanation" he just made sure the cabinet wouldn't get set up. Finally, outside of a few other people, the only sane person that's a fully functional human and very capable (George) unfortunately seems very busy and is randomly unavailable as he probably has to put out everyone else's fires. George is the only reason pretty much any cabinet got purchased and he has to show up after half a dozen nonsensical responses by others to actually do the right thing.
So unless George shows up again and understands us, no one else is going to communicate anything less "fun."
We're definitely going to take legal action just so they don't feel this comfortable swindling customers, and yes it won't improve the relationship but at that point there'd be nothing left to maintain. I just have to work that into my busy schedule but luckily their HQ is in Los Angeles so it's easier to proceed with that. With Psychz, we have an Amsterdam cabinet that doesn't exist, a Los Angeles cabinet that isn't fully function with a few servers, an empty half cabinet in Dallas, and an alleged Chicago cabinet (with no device set up in the billing portal, so I say alleged, as it's in a similar state as Amsterdam) with incorrect power configuration that doesn't match our agreement.
So when's my AMS gonna be ready?
The problem here is that you do not get assigned a single customer service rep. They are the one who is suppose to deal with all the internal BS, not you. Having one point of contact is the only way a company is accountable to you, and can provide reasonable customer service.
WTF is everybody running the IDGAF business model now?
I'm going out on a limb here, and of course nothing is guaranteed, but I expect your Amsterdam VPS to be delivered before CC gets IPv6.
Have you ever considered xTom for LAX and AMS?
xTom have data center in both locations
https://xtom.com/facilities/
considering you already signed contract with them for TYO and FRA, signing two more could gain you some price negotiation edge I suppose.
Amsterdam will pretty much be with whoever can guarantee us a speedy delivery first. I've spoken to xTom about it, here's their blend:
Just waiting for confirmation on setup ETA. Also asked QuadraNet and Hivelocity. I think the ETA is going to end up being probably around the same amount of time Psychz would have taken to set everything up with how things were going.
It's definitely going to end up being much more expensive than Psychz but at least we won't be paying for literally nothing. So I'd say there's value there.
Honestly, this is all pretty ridiculous. Even if they are considering VirMach as a "small" client, he already paid! Why would a company not provision what has been paid for, and then have the nerve to change the terms once he's ready to start using the service he's paid for?
I'm waiting for NYC, so I can't really weigh in on who to go with for the other locations, but I'd say fuck Psychz. I wouldn't give them any of your business after pulling this stunt.
Tokyo storage wasn't able to ship out today, I missed it by about 30 minutes trying to fit the rails in the same box. I'm doing that now and it'll 100% get shipped out tomorrow. I'll also still try to schedule a second pickup for today or drive it down if I can fit it in the car but since it's already in the afternoon (they came a little late for the pickup) it might not make a big difference on delivery date.
Tokyo is still getting 3 new disks in today, later in the day, and I expect to at least create some of the "broken" ones that never provisioned correctly and maybe up to half of the others waiting (100/200.) That also means around half the invoices randomly selected for potential free year or two of service.
Tokyo is receiving two more 5950X servers that shipped out today. The 5950X servers also have a little bit more disk. It will exceed our immediate requirements either way. I couldn't pack the rest in time. Those other three will go out tomorrow, probably accompanied by a few more to help finish out Tokyo.
Los Angeles - I'm going to begin loading a palette that should arrive Thursday. This will include the storage server.
Chicago - Probably not going to be Psychz if they let us cancel it since power drops are incorrect. This means it is further delayed until we sign on with someone else. The built Chicago servers may end up elsewhere for now.
NYC - Still trying to get access to IPMI, they're taking their sweet time. Servers have been there about two weeks now.
Frankfurt - Waiting on xTom's reply about Amsterdam ETA. If it's within a few days, servers from Psychz will go there, assuming Psychz doesn't try to steal them (who knows at this point.) Otherwise I have servers ready to ship from the US and I'll try to have those go out tomorrow.
Miami - This got provisioned. We'll try to ship equipment there tomorrow, so probably ready sometime early next week although this location wasn't part of the sale. We may do another sale for that and include Miami as an option.
NYC and Amsterdam Storage - Still need to be checked/tested. Amsterdam storage has problems with motherboard again, but I did buy a third one. NYC motherboard was still dropped by me and potentially damaged and I haven't had time to test it.
I'll update this page shortly: https://virmach.com/ryzen-special-offer-news-updates/
Now you have me contemplating what the chances of being able to migrate a buffalo special to Miami is verse how good the prices of the sale will be.
Also when do you think that you will open up sales for NYC?
Asking for a friend.
It is so rare to see the word "100%" in VirMach's posts, quoting it for future reference
100%doubleMyShipment
This does look quite nice, do you know which DC you'd be deploying in? Their peeringdb lists them as present in Equinix AM11, AM5, and AM7 (along with some disappointingly small IX ports
)
Nice that's great!
What a pity, already sold out
You should hire some shooters, I insist. They were not planing to keep promise, these motherfuckers are playing tricks, they should pay.
Wait, what about optional ddos protected IP in LA location, will it be available?
Am I allowed to regret clicking the Ryzen migration to Tokyo?
TBH, I am pretty confused about the relationship between v.ps, xTom and RivenCloud.
For example, it seems VirMach Japan using the same DC as RivenCloud, (lg: https://lg-ty1.sa.net/ and https://lg-ty2.sa.net/ ) rather than V.PS Osaka Japan (lg: https://kix.lg.v.ps/ ).
Besides, they are using the different upstream blend, check looking glass below:
AMS:
https://lg-am1.sa.net/
https://ams.lg.v.ps/
Germany:
(Frankfurt) https://lg-de1.sa.net/
(Düsseldorf) https://dus.lg.v.ps/
Japan:
(Tokyo) https://lg-ty1.sa.net/ and https://lg-ty2.sa.net/
(Osaka) https://kix.lg.v.ps/
(edit) found Tokyo looking glass from V.PS:

Invoice #1413570
I want to refund this first and then I could order a new one. Could I refund this VPS? Can you help me solve it?
Thanks
Oh ffs Psychz.
@VirMach you should start writing a book - LowEndTalk provider: UPS & Psychz nightmare. Plus Ryzen, plus ADATA, plus chassis/risers suppliers. This would be a nice read.
v.ps is a subsidiary of xTom. not sure about another one.

xTom also owns quite a lot ASN's.
maybe @xTom can give us little more details
