servaRICA Lobster Unlimited Expanding Storage Offer
Hi LET
These offers are really unique and based on our market survey.
We don’t think anyone has done similar offers in the past.
We are offering VPS servers with daily increasing disk space
The VPS gain storage credit daily and when the user reboot the VPS from client area they will get their disk expanded by the amount of credit accumulated so far
Those VPS work with the following idea
1- You start with initial disk space as set in your plan
2- Daily you will get some GBs added as disk quota in your vps (you can see it in your client area)
3- When you reboot your VPS the disk quota you accumulated will be applied to your vps and the disk size will be bigger by the same amount of the disk quota before reboot
Note: if you used our templates and didnt install from ISO after reboot your file system will be bigger as we do all the expansion work on reboot
Your quota will keep increasing daily indefinitely as long as you keep the VPS active (paid for)
to understand how those offer work please check the FAQ section here

Picked up a server, just wish you allowed adult contents, I would use it as a da node for customers
Instead I’ll use it for Nextcloud I suppose
file system increase on the premise that the vps is installed from template?
What is the disk setup in the SAN(of course if isn't a trade secret)? Just curious.
OnlyLobsters
the disk always increase on reboot from client area
for the filesystem to see the increase in disk size you need to run some commands
those commands run by default in our templates and they are obviously missing if you install from iso
So if you install from iso you need to run some commands manually to expand your file system so that it see the increased disk size after a reboot but if you go with our template you dont need to do anything after reboot as the filesystem will be already expanded
it is Raidz2 where we use 2 parity disks per 6 or 8 disks group (25% to 33% disk parity protection overhead)
Thank you, hani.
I'll try to revert to template installation.
I’m more afraid that a customer will put porn or something and I’ll be terminated. The TOS is very strict against it so I don’t want to take my chances
That expanding storage offer has been brain-worming me for weeks now, it's possible that I could use this to slowly (<3GB/per day) back up a very large collection of files and the price to keep that backup would remain the same for life. Hard to ignore that as an option.
Has anyone got one of these yet? I'm interested to hear any experiences with this from anyone.
Is it possible to apply the promotion on a higher plan with daily disk increases of 6GB?
Interesting.
Could you have the expanding disk as an external mount or second disk?
Do you care if files are encrypted?
Would you consider a package that is more lowend?
Can I plex on this?
Looks like it will take two years before $/TB is cheaper than the "Polar Bear Storage" plan.
Here are the answers to all new questions
Hi @ooowwww
we usually dont use promo codes , so our prices in the website are the correct and final price
for the 6gb increase you will need to go plan Unlimited Expanding Storage Offer Plan - 2
We may add new variant of these plans in the future
Currently the to the VPS each 2TB shows as 1 disk
So if you start by 3TB for example you will have 2tb disk and 1TB disk
if your disk expand more than 4TB you will have 3 disks and so on
from file system point of view in our templates we should everything as one logical disk using lvm
if you prefer to handle the disks directly you can ask the team to mount iso for you and you can do the install using the web console
We dont care and we encourage users to encrypt when they can , actually for some time we are working on some solutions to make encryption easier for users
Our lowest storage package is polar bear which is 2TB for 48$/y (2$/TB/m) but that one is constant while this one do expand so after some time this plan may be cheaper per TB
Yes , we dont put restrictions on what you run on the storage plan , we just ask you if you run torrent to mark the order as torrent use so we put it in node with other torrent users
So for sure you can run plex with no issues
yes ignoring mem and cpu it will take time to be as cheap as polar , This plan for long term users and for our data most storage users are long term
Lobsters make me poop weird. Im gunna have to pass, but i am tempted. please woo me.
@servarica_hani I would say Lobster Unlimited Expanding Storage Plan is tempting but would be an more of an instant buy if it was $8.50 or $9 per month (paid monthly).
$10/month for 2TB today, 3TB next year, so on, seems decent to me.
I did not say the deal was not decent. I said it was tempting which suggests me saying that the deal is pretty good, just on the edge of what is very good/fantastic.
kimsufi sells 2TB space on atom for $10 a month. I'm surprised people chase that until it's OOS over this. A dedicated atom have hardly any value and practically any vps on a decent server will surpass that cpu.
I literally said above it was not a bad deal, I said comparing to other deals on the provider what is a price to consider to an instant buy.
You literally quoted a post I made earlier that does not have that context.
How do you mark the order as torrent use? On the 2022 storage animal series, I see that there's a section called additional information with a checkbox, but I don't see that box on the growing storage series. Is it later in the process?
Also, is there any particular reason this is named after an animal? Is it not considered a normal part of the growing storage line?
I quoted you but I wasn't actually replying to you. It's for those who share your opinion that this isn't a bad deal but not particularly a great deal. In other words, if one thinks kimsufi offer a great deal at 2TB/$10/month, then this deal should be even better.
All Servarica's storage plans are named after animals...
The Special Big Storage Plans are, but the growing storage plans are just named 1 2 & 3. The Big Storage series seems to be named after precious metals. There are a few different naming schemes going on.
From the Lobster name I would expect the plan to be filed under Special Big Storage Plans when just browsing through their offers category by category, but it's filled under Unlimited Expanding Storage Offer Plan based on its functionality, which makes it an anomaly in its category.
yeah we usually name all our plan with animal names (in early days it was elements from periodic table) , for the unlimited plans when we launched them initially we decided to make the name more of description of what they are since the idea is new and we were afraid users will think they are normal constant storage plans if we just gave them an animal name
lobster was released after the first 3 and we felt the community already started to be familiar with the idea so we used an animal name for the plan and added more description in the plans name
usually the animal name for the plan has something to do with the plan features
For example lobsters continue to grow throughout their lives. and they live for very long time which in line with the features of the plan
waiting for the wombat plan
I hope they are known for anything other than what they produce
Any Easter specials??
