  • Wondered what happened here since I paid for the server 1 month ago and didn't receive any emails about this anymore. So I tried to log in to the customer panel (billing.virmach.com)

    I literally just tried to log in normally and:

    Error 1015
    You are being rate limited

    What happened?
    The owner of this website (billing.virmach.com) has banned you temporarily from accessing this website.

    Waited for like an hour now an still "rate limited" for trying to log in once? I don't particularily feel like reading 139 pages, but I'm starting to get bad vibes here. Is there an e-mail address I can write an e-mail to? Because if I go to the website and click "Contact us" it tells me I'm banned...

    I don't need this server urgently so waiting is fine. What I do need though is communication, or at least not being banned from the client panel.

    DM me your IP address and I'll try to see what happened but the first thing I'm checking against is how many times you sent HTTP requests to our webserver and if I see a bunch of requests then obviously it's that and I can't really help.

    DM'd you. As I said, I tried to log in normally. Once. And then pressed F5 in very reasonable intervals, like, measured in minutes. If you can't fix it, please DM me back an e-mail address where I can reach you so we can resolve this amicably.

    Well you didn't mention the F5 part. Any reason you were refreshing the login page in reasonable intervals? That'd probably get you rate limited.

    Anyway, on my end I don't really see much refreshing until the end for the ticket page but you mentioned getting ratelimited before trying to contact us, as in the first time you did it you were already ratelimited by then?

    Anyway with that said you shouldn't have been ratelimited, I'll look into it further and raise limits.

    The ratelimit rule has been changed, you hit your limit because you were for some reason loading the favicon a lot, as in it shows you loaded the favicon 29 times.

    Yes, to see if I'm still banned? How else would I figure that out? Definitely nothing that would or should affect any sane rate limit. And no not necessarily the login page, I think it was mostly /contact.php. Certainly not POSTs that one could mistake for brute-forcing.

    Presumably because cloudflare blocks it? I don't fully understand the question. I went on the client panel, got a cloudflare H-Captcha, solved it, got your panel login page with recaptcha, filled it out and solved the captcha, and boom banned. I didn't do anything else before.

    Then I tried to figure out how to contact you, because it tells me to open a ticket everywhere, which uh, isn't exactly an option since it won't let me. And then I posted here.

    Able to log in now thanks. About the favicon thing, idk, I used a browser... So blame chromium I guess?

    I'll try to refine this rule as well, I could see how two captchas can be problematic.

    exactly how what i got looked like, the only part missing from that screenshot is what I DMd you. a footer with cloudflare ray ID and user IP.

    Elaborate please.
    1. How did you installed the system?
    2. If you installed system through template reinstall option, did you wait at least 30 minutes before other operations?
    3. What OS did you choose?
    4. What plan are you on? (Memory, location, node)
    5. What exact error did you see? Is it in ssh or VNC.

    Honestly at some point I was even thinking of offering paid service to "help install OS", then it struck me that there would be people get the service then absolutely do not want to pay.

    So, you got migrated to JP, it's provisioned on JP Ryzen node, your IP is "geo-located" in Japan. But something still showed you are in LA?

    Then you probably need a visa for both USA and JP (if you don't have it already) 😂
