@pdd I thought that firewalls blocked it means that the VPS received "Incoming traffic". Even if the traffic is spam or annoying to you, the fact is that your VPS received the traffic.
Maybe you are right, but it's hard for OCD people like me not to get irritated when faced with this situation!

Start investigating what traffic that is? What port? Are they connecting to anything you have there?
Do your VPS job.
I forgot to provide an update on the page and maybe here, the staggers were marked as not running but were running for some time. We're up to about 77% now.
Now it's not running.
Can you pls check node PHXZ001
or its just me VM do not respond to any commands, its offline from activation made 2 days ago
Now when all eyes are on Tokyo one little update request.
What's going on with Amsterdam, please? Is stuff shipped to the Europe finally or still waiting for someone to pick it up?
NYC Metro initial batch picked up finally after 2 weeks of it being ready there. Even then, the guy on the phone messed up the pickup request but luckily the delivery guy is smart and corrected it/figured it out for us.
Quick check: did you manually install any OS after it's activated? If not or it's not responding, try to get AlmaLinux and wait 10 minutes after to press boot on your server.
Yes I have ryzen in 4 zones working, this one Phoenix just not budge
Everything looks great on this one.
@VirMach then pls check Ticket #787759 when you get the time, I tried all (all template, VNC, iso etc) its just always offline..
Two just got picked up. Four more I had to repackage because everything is hectic here and I can't just decide on the right transportation method from the beginning. They didn't make it but I can still schedule another pickup or try to drop off.
Switch has to be redone I just remembered I ended up using the packaged one for another location. We still have others just not packaged.

Your not crazy, and it is probably not something you can, or need, to "fix". I expect The 500kb/s to 2mb/s traffic that you are seeing via iftop is all the traffic that your virtual network interface sees. This is not necessarily traffic bound for you VPS services that iftop is measuring. You can double check this by looking at the received transfer amount that shows on the eth0 (or whatever) network interface on your machine over time and then look at what VirMach's billing panel or SolusVM panel shows for the traffic used for the same period.
In the above example, for me it would show that I used 7.38GB of transfer yesterday, when the billing/SolusVM panel shows I used a little less then 1GB of transfer. On my virtual network adapter I am currently showing a base of 500kb/s with spikes up to 5mb/s so basically the same as you.
I have noticed this same thing on some other providers as well. It may be something that has to do with how the provider sets up the network, I really don't know as I am not a network engineer.
EDIT: If you start seeing outbound traffic at the same level, that you don't know where it is coming from, then that would be the time to start worrying.
Actually I don't understand this. The package I subscribed is marketed as 1.5gb, but why I'm getting only 1.34gb total memory?
O/S crashkernel is enabled?
This would be set at time of install and reserves memory for crashkernel. Some templates have this enabled, some do not.
I'm not very sure about that. Using Alma template. If it is indeed turned on, there any way to disable this post-install?
Yes, AlmaLinux8 template does have it turned on. I do not know of anyway to turn it off and recover the memory after install. Maybe someone else will chime in with a solution.
Not sure how talking coffee and VPSes relates to that.
Test the cross-compatibility

I know I am a bit late, but I am installing this now. I will let you know if I see any shutdown issues.
Thanks! Got it disabled and recovered the full memory now! ✌
set up a firewall. I recommend ufw.
run
sudo journalctl -fand get ready to be surprised by the constant annoying trafficI found that virmach's IP addresses are particularly targeted by malicious hackers.
BTW. I whitelisted my SSH port and Cloudflare's IP range only.
@VirMach I see the Ryzen Migration button, but it doesn't seem to work.
When
$("#ryzen-reserve-ip-modal").show(); $("#ryzen-reserve-ip-modal").modal('show');is executed,<div id="ryzen-reserve-ip-modal">is not displayed.039 has become broken mode again…
Same here. High steal, network jitters.
Someone was trying to run Windows 2022 on a 1GB plan. That's apparently all it took.
Some other stuff still going on as well but that one really did it.
Oh that's just a fake button we put there.
Ah, it's OK for me. But I thought someone would open a ticket about it.
Same here, firewall is up, only white listed IP's can access, and it still shows a bunch of supposed traffic when you look at iftop. Most of which is not really inbound to my IP. That is why I told @pdd it is probably not a concern.
I'll look into it more in a little bit. Right now I am trying to get this Debian 11 install to auto shutdown.
EDIT: Oddly iftop does not show as much traffic on the Debian 11 install as the CentOS/Alma. Both are on same node. @pdd what O/S are you using?
^ broadcast/multicast packets? Port scans from your 'friendly neighbours'?
