    and PMS alert tag perhaps?

  • @VirMach Japan's node 40 are very, very bad and I can't stand it. The ping of my VPS is cannot responding in time, it is at a snail's pace and I cannot use it normally. If possible, like you said, move my VPS to SAN Jose for the time being, and then move it to Japan again when Japan gets back to normal. This is my Invoice #1396864

I can imagine what Virmach would say: no.
Read the last 3 pages in this thread and you should know he already asked you all to wait for few days for situation to improve.

    Node 39.
I tried to install Oracle Linux via Netboot.xyz but my instance turned off halfway. Sad.

Is there anything I should try before I decide to give up and stick with Alma?

  • each Netboot.xyz distro need from 768MB to 2-3GB of ram for install, as it use ram disk to mount imagine... so first you need to know the imagine req

If you are on 384MB, try Debian or Alma?
If it's something higher, try netboot.xyz network install Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (20.04 requires significantly large memory - more than 2GB).

    That'd cost you 10 bucks.

Sorry I forgot to mention that I'm on 1.5GB plan.
If possible, I want to use Oracle first, to simplify the management with my other servers with the same OS (also evil must prosper).

I wonder if there is any installation parameters that I could tweak to stop it from killing itself mid install.

Actually, Alma would work too but OL's 'just work' ksplice is too good to miss.

Some thought: Can you allow users with provider tag to update their initial post? I think in situations like Virmach have, being able to update their initial post would be a significant help.

  • No you VPS in mid install get out of ram and restart, install older Orakle linux is only way you can do it over netbootin

Unfortunately editing after a set period of time is the same forum wide. We can't set different time limits based on user level due to a vanilla limitation.

San Jose offer is there for everyone. If Tokyo is not good enough for you right now, I'll move you to San Jose for free and move you back for free at a later time. Just don't get upset if you're not moved back within the day you ask. It will most likely be when the situation actually improves as I don't want to move people back only for them to complain again, and if too many people request it then obviously it will take more time to move back.

Any reason for not allowing edits? It gets marked as edited so people know it was edited. People can quote the post or archive it themselves if it's an important message that could result in confusion if it's edited then that option is there.

Pretty much every modern site outside of maybe Twitter allows indefinite edits or removals.

    Amsterdam Update

I was able to get someone in Amsterdam willing to receive the servers for us, outside of the storage server which is very heavy. These will be shipped out to meet the initial demand, via 1-3 day shipping instead of freight since freight continues to be non-responsive.

Tried minimal OL7 leapp upgrade route just now. Still died.

Welp. I'll just stick with Alma.

Which OS? Try connect with VNC and see if there's any error code. Some OS templates are not compatible with Ryzen servers.

Did you install any OS template or Mount ISO after the service is initially provisioned? If not, you need to do that because the purchase OS option is "Install later"
