I'm unable to boot my VPS with an ISO mounted. Please help look into this issue. I tried installing from the Debian 11 template, but it didn't work either. If possible, I'd like to install it from the ISO. Thank you.

Do not use ISO right now. They're not all synced. I'll see why Debian 11 template isn't working if you currently have it on that OS, so please take a moment to attempt to install that right now.

My order date is March 14th, when will it be available?

    Closer to Friday this week.

Just to clarify on this since "went too quick" probably doesn't make sense, it looks similar to a SolusVM bug they never fixed (I guess) even on the newer versions. I remember we applied a really old fix for this but I have to dig it up to apply it to the Ryzens.

@tooyoung @treesky2017 @riofredinand keep me updated on how it goes.

The clientarea re-install does not take effect,
and the re-install in solusvm displays: No media found for this virtual server.
    vnc displays:no bootable device.
    (update)boot failed:coud not read from CDRM(code 0003)
If you try to manually mount the ISO in solusvm, it will go offline and won't start.

No ISO functionality yet, try Debian 7.

    Update: debian 11 is available.

@VirMach After many hours, my vps appeared again: no bootable device. When I reboot it goes Offline. The same goes for manually clicking to start or re-install.
update:This one happens to be close to the time virmath was released. But I will keep this one.

I'm closing off Tokyo pre-orders. Too many people purchasing it and not reading the offer details or just impatient/changing their mind and requesting a refund. Too many questions about it in tickets. It's probably half the ticket requests we received in the last 24 hours. I may put it back in stock after we're more prepared to deal with all the inquiries or it at least gets picked up, but it'll be at the updated prices since most people have had a chance to buy it at the early bird rate.

Of course, a lot of these tickets are valid, it's just skewed toward one location so we're just getting rid of that location for now. I recommend all these people consider ordering Seattle instead since that's immediately available if they want immediate service.

And of course I understand that's not everyone, so if you want a Tokyo pre-order, step one, read this comment. Step two, order it in any other non-instant provisioned location and comment your order ID here, tag me and ask me to manually change it to Tokyo for you. I'll only change it if it's not already provisioned in the other location, so make sure to follow that step correctly. I'll also keep the location open for another hour so last call. For the requested larger 8GB package we've been talking about, I'll allow Tokyo as well. And of course I'll still provide updates for Tokyo, and you can still cancel and request a refund if you change your mind.

I've read your post and placed an order for the SPECIAL 768 in Amsterdam. Could you please change the location to Tokyo? Thanks! @VirMach
    The order number is: 9321225208

I'm actually looking into this now. It's not all the drives, one of them may be acting up though. That would make sense why some are offline some are online.

Hi @VirMach - I think you missed my older request as I didn't get a short confirmation from you. I asked for a location switch from Tokyo to LA. No worries about any waiting time. Appreciate your help 😀 (Invoice #1397608 - Order ID is 652865 - "LargeWorried-VM")

I hope now you´ll get it :-) Thanks, appreciate it.

Hate adding to the spam, but I just realized that I'm also on TYOC040 and that's why my VM isn't booting. If only one drive is acting up, does that mean the hypervisors aren't using raid?

  • I wonder how many servers are being deployed.

Bought mine pretty early, 9:58 UTC to be precise. Can't remember how many 384 were in stock, but it's mostly there.

Since 1/5th of the demand could be anywhere between 50-300 VMs depends on the plan, I would say it's highly unlikely anybody will get their servers today at this point.

It will be another week, or Friday if lucky.

1397158Ryzen Special 384 was originally a Tokyo package but was launched in San Jose, can the Los Angeles storage #1405380 still be migrated to Tokyo? If not, I request a refund before booting. Sent a ticket but no one seems to get back to me.

I don't know why the font is thick again, tried changing it but failed.

@VirMach I don't understand why you only allow refund 1 or 2 servers max but you didn't state that in the offer page.

You might be right, give me your ticket ID.

I believe in the comments I specified it is our normal refund policy and limitations but at a glance I also don't notice that being stated. Our normal refund policy is one per customer but it wasn't explicitly stated/linked so in that case we'll honor it. My apologies. I'll double check and see where why we missed it or if we did state it and update you as well.

Thank you very much for your consideration.
Here is my ticket: Ticket #265465

@VirMach Sorry to re-quote this but I am afraid that my post gets lost in the service id comments so it didn't reach you

It's funny because the heatsink rated for 95 TDP functions better than those advertised for 105+ but that's a whole other can of worms.

With these rackmounts the fans end up being more important in most cases I've noticed though and even with excessive fans (as in fans all over, even ones that would not fit in normal use) the same problem I'm describing exists. So at this point it doesn't really seem to be a "problem" and more of a "feature" on how these function. As in, AMD wants it to get hot and maximize performance and then cut it off however they want by default unless you do a custom configuration as we've done.

I'm not saying our solution is perfect, I was just providing background on why it seems to be necessary and why I believe 5900X will function better than 5950X in this particular use case (something I assume no one thought of because they didn't intend for it to be used this way, in a rackmount server.)

(edit) By the way short version of 95 TDP heatsink theory, I believe the material and design allows it to dissipate heat in a way where it is beneficial for bursts. It's thin aluminum versus bulky copper. But the copper should outperform in normal non-burst 24x7 operations.

    @VirMach
I'd recommend you to look at Eco mode. In my experience, Eco mode doesn't impact single core performance at all but lowers all core performance by less than 10% while using less power and running a lot cooler.

My numbers from a 3900X (yes it's not the same CPU but the effect should be similar):
    With Eco Mode: CB20 6523 multi & 505 single core @ 59W
    Without Eco Mode: 7166 multi & 505 single core @ 110W

So around 45% less power (=less heat) while losing less than 10% performance. For me and my use case (24x7) this was a given win.
