It depends. I get what you mean, but there are plenty of millionaires which could've made an exit and are still working hard on their business.
Linode seem lagged behind competitors, getting acquired is their logical step to make. Cloud Hosting seem to be more like a commodity right now, and exiting at this time is perfect.
There is type of complicated people, who can't afford idling and need very little sleep
Many known scientists, politicians and business people are amongst them, of course. But after earning a considerable amounts, their focus shifts dramatically, as they can afford experimenting, like flying to space. But there are still grey cardinals, who are actually running the states, the world and those successful business people depends on them. It's not that $900M makes you king of the world. There are leagues, where entrance can't be bought. But you can still build rockets with that amount of money and call it working hard on your business.
EDIT: ignore, I think I misinterpreted.
I think he's saying that vultr is calling akamai a big evil company. Not that vultr is a big evil company
Yes, me too. I like vultr.
Rereading I think you're right. Sorry @ollietex - withdrawn.

I don't know whether it is related. A lot of my clients' 1G plan Linode suddenly got not enough. It looks like they are fading out.
I didn't understand this part. I can still see the 1G instance on their website. What is the problem you/your clients are facing?
OOM and slow websites. It was OK.
And here I am with insane amount of referral credit, which I have literally no idea what to use for.
Maybe it is time to upgrade to a 2G instance. That's the point of scalable cloud anyway.
Yeah, I upgraded all of them to 2G, it's fast again.
