How to read a YABS score
OK, I thought I understood how to read these YABS scores, at least when it came to the final Benchmark. I _thought _lower was better, such as a Single Core result of 100. But looking at some others makes me think that a higher score is better, as in, a faster machine. So, a Single Core result of 4012, like below, was presented as good. So which is it? Thank you!

The higher the score, the faster the CPU.
It's basically performs several tests and probably compares those results to the results of their comparison CPU

Imo, it really depends on price/value.
The one you see with a single core score of 4000+ is probably for geekbench 4, you can't really get that high of a score on geekbench 5. I think your score of 673 is considered "good enough for most tasks". If you can consistently get 800+ at this low end price range I think that's considered quite good, and 1000+ really good.
Regardless, with wishosting most likely you can slam the cpu 24/7 so I think as long as that score doesn't go below 500 you got a good deal.

I wouldn't go that far to call it this... maybe the line you draw there is a just bit high.
it heavily depends on the CPU generation used and the price you pay. results over 1000 single core are not really common on VPS right now and require a very recent CPU that has a good single core performance from the start. like ryzen, some epyc or i9, E-22xx etc.
E5 won't get there and even higher clocked E3 might only come close to it but not above.
so I'd rather say for an average vps everything in the range of 600-800 seems okay, especially if the multicore score scales properly. not totally linear, but if you get 4 cores, multi core result should be 2.5-3.5x of single core to make it a good one for instance.
but that's just me, obviously these numbers give always room for interpretation and only are a measurement of limited scope anyways.

I agree, if you get new servers by now, they should be around these values in my opinion, too. It does depend your needs of course, but looking at BF deals it is not very hard to get servers at well reputated hosters at a pretty low price.

proves my point. don't buy an E5 and complain about the 'bad GB score'.
even if that's then around 600 it most likely is not bad at all, but you simply picked the wrong product.
As long as you are getting the expected gb5 for the cpu model then it’s alright, as long as it fits your workload and is reasonably priced
