Hetzner's Auction servers network speed

VXszVXsz Member

I was wondering, do they have a full dedicated 1gbps to the server you buy or just some shared network speed? it's probably the former but I want to make sure, benchmarks would be great if anyone has them, as I'm looking to pick an i7-4770 from them

Also, does IPv4 matter? ~2 eur savings seem good to me but I'm not sure if it would negatively effect me, my use case is just Plex and a few side projects like Discord bots that I like to have fun with, so I'm not sure if I should pay for an IPv4 or save some money

  • Dedicated unmetered gigabit. IMO it's Hetzner's biggest selling point.

If you don't understand the implications then get the IPv4. Discord connections will completely break without one and there's no telling what else might go wrong.

Yes, it's dedicated 1Gbps port. IPv4 does matter, you should pay for IPv4 unless you really know what you're doing.

    Thanks for the info

I may take it with an IPv4 then, 1.5 eur isn't much in the grand scheme of things

They're all 1 gbps receive & send. I only buy from their auctions. Also, you can cancel within 14 days if the server doesn't meet your expectations. https://www.hetzner.com/legal/terms-and-conditions

Save € and forgo ipv4 if you always access from a place and use resources that you know will always have ipv6. You can always add ipv4 later if needed.

  • Speeds look pretty good, I'm guessing the other servers aren't stable as the first 2, thus the low speeds, thanks for the yabs

It's less about stability and more that the servers other than the first 3 aren't in the same continent. Considering Hetzner is all the way in Germany it's impressive it gets 800mbps with US to begin with. And APAC (Singapore) naturally sucks because it's basically on the other side of the world.
