Suggestion for low cost Online Backup storage service?
Hi all
I'm looking for low cost Online Backup storage service for my personal backup (db dump, images, video, games, music...) with size > 2 TB and it is "backup and forgot" type of data, rarely download again. Support rclone for auto backup is +1
Any suggestions?
Maybe Scaleway C14? Oracle?
Thank you

Did you try google drive?
1Fichier might be an option. Some good discussion here: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/112656/review-amp-special-offer-1fichier-unlimited-file-hosting-storage-amp-100gb-mo-cdn-for-10-year/p15
It's a bit pricy, I'm looking for something lower
It's good but it is a file sharing with "pirate" things, will it be shutdown like megaupload someday who knows
Backblaze

Filen.io
C14 is a good option if you want set and forget.
There are a few more coupons left from our Happy New Year offer:

For me, 3 yrs is too far in advance.
The offer is valid for annual orders as well.
Fair point. $2.29/TB/mo on the 2TB plan is still reasonable.
Someone mentioned Baidu Pan before but I'm not sure I'm comfortable giving my backups to Xi Jinping.
Jottacloud at 7.99 or 79 euro yearly with «unlimited» storage. They do limit speeds after 5 TB.
I once had 40 TB with them for around 5€/month.
I know you need 2TB, but someone else might find it useful. https://www.ionos.de/office-loesungen/hidrive-cloud-speicher first year 6€ for 1TB, although it's 1&1.
been around for years, don't think it's going anywhere soon.
How do you backup to them? This week-end i was looking for protocols they may support (webdav, ftp, etc.) but looks like only their own solution works. Can you tell me more?
If you want S3 stuffs, BackBlaze B2 may suit you well as their pricing is quite good. You can also check Wasabi if you want a better pricing. On the side i've set my own S3 using Minio on a provider with lot storage offers (like BuyVM and their slabs).
On the side i've used a Lifetime offer on Koofr i had since few years as a third storage location, they support Webdav.
I've tried Storj and their 150gb free but speed was not as expected ; pretty sure it's more a user interface issue than a provider issue as i haven't dig more.
Btw i was on BackupPC, then on BorgBackup and i've switched to Duplicacy CLI. Duplicacy is really nice but they are boring to not use "standard" commands; meaning sometime you feel lost because the CLI works a way you are not used with Restic, BorgBackup, rclone, etc. But overall, it works really well too.
Microsoft family 365 (6TB) is very cheap compared to other cloud storage. But network is crap.
+1
If you get it through a MS family, it costs 5$ / year per person
AWS deep glacier for 1$/TB/mo
drop box is pretty good or can use vultr storage hosting

Thanks! Ordered one
Thank you, enjoy your service!
How long ago was that and how were the upload and download speeds? According to this blog post from 2020, upload speeds are limited progressively, based on the amount of data you have stored. Once you have 5TB stored, you can only upload at 20Mbps and once you get to 10TB stored, upload speed is further limited to 6Mbps. Table of throttled speeds on a per-file basis (from this blog post). Up to six files can be uploaded in parallel:
They also seem to review accounts if they use "extreme" amounts of bandwidth or storage. Source: https://docs.jottacloud.com/en/articles/1388092-account-review-abuse-and-misuse
Is this promo still valid??
No, I am afraid it has expired.
