What OS are you all picking from RackNerd's options? I've been using this as an opportunity to play around with Rocky
I use Ubuntu 18.04 with Docker on many of mine as it saves me setup time, but I like to play around with many different OSs on idle VPSs.
Alma8
It was my 1st AlmaLinux. Rocky was somehow bugged when i tried it.
ubuntu for everything... even my raspberry pi 4b...
i have a VM of arch on my pc but rarely use it, sometimes for basic pentesting
I've been using Arch on my home server and my laptop, I like it quite a bit but I'm not sure I'd use it on anything production. Ubuntu or Debian is my go to for something that needs to just run 24/7 without babysitting. Not that my arch machines have any problem with that yet, I just know that at any time an update could break something as its a rolling release distro.
Used to run CentOS on my RackNerd VPS, converted all of them to AlmaLinux.
I'm not always in the thread to respond to people. When I get back to the thread, I respond to the things that I missed. Sorry if that makes you unhappy.
I like to think that what I respond with is generally useful and encouraging, which is more than I can say for your post! Would you rather I go about spamming?
I stick with Ubuntu 20.04 for pretty much everything. For very small VPSes, I like to use Alpine, but I'm not sure if that's on the list of RackNerd options or not.
LET THE SHITPOSTING BEGIN!
Alpine isn't on the list but as we know it can always be mounted via ticket.
I'd use Ubuntu 20.04 or newer too but 18.04 is more compatible with Docker for now so I'll stick with it, plus the template to install it with Docker preinstalled on RackNerd is just super convenient.
Oh yeah, I totally understand that. Docker can be a bit picky sometimes.
I wasn't sure if it was on the list, I haven't used it at RackNerd yet, but I know that if I ever do, RackNerd support has my back
RACKNERD-SUPPORT-IS-AWESOME
I have a 256MB RAM VPS with another provider I've used Alpine on a few times, but never needed it at RackNerd yet either.
I have to agree though,
RACKNERD-SUPPORT-IS-AWESOME
Although I still wouldn't mind self-mounting ISOs.

i wonder how many employees does racknerd have? included datacenter etc. employees
