Would like to see Chef bring back that New Years flash deal with 3core, 4GB RAM, 50GB SSD, 4TB BW for $20.22/yr ($18.88/yr + ~7% inflation)

EDIT: Adjusted new price to be 2022 compatible.

    That would be awesome..

More posts keeps the thread at the top of the front page, which I think is the idea, but I'm not in marketing lol

I think maybe just trying something new was the idea. Idk

That old rig I got will be up in no time.

That's great. With the 8GB of RAM and that quad core it should be able to do quite a few things. I hope it it works out really well for you. :)

I honestly thought it was going to sit in the corner forever after my buddy dropped it off but now within a week it'll be a sweet retro-gaming box! (I think thats the route I'm gonna take given its specs. Who knows though, I change my mind often lol)

  • I'm holding out for some of that sweet Ashburn action!

I wouldn't mind something in Ashburn, I do have Oracle Free Tier there but I'm kinda to the point where I'm collecting Racknerd locations like Pokemon.

    Gotta catch 'em all!

    :D

  • What's so special about ashburn?

Peering maybe? I'm actually not sure, I know its a major location for datacenters. Now I have to look it up as I'm also curious.

For me its just a location I don't have any paid services in and I like redundancy. Can't use Oracle Free for production because the moment I do they'll probably take it away. lol

How many machines do you have? What do you use them for?

15+ spread all over the US, some in Canada, a couple in Europe. Mostly really cheap LEB boxes though. I use them for a lot of things, hosting websites, VPN, nextcloud, insert-list-of-random-dockerized-apps-here, and some testing stuff. Some of it is for me, some for customers, and the occasional one gets loaned out to friends when they need it.

  • I also just picked up a KS-16 for use as a Plex server, have a few friends that pitched in as they like to watch my collection but my home server and internet can only handle so much lol

Nice! I was eyeing up a SYS but Canada ran out of stock during the deals so I grabbed the KS with no setup fees. 6TB will do for now...but it goes quick. lol
