Have OVH really run out of money?

I know they had a fire, but if they need a payday loan, go to a payday loan lender! Instead, some genius thought, Payday lenders typically charge around 400%, but if we offer servers we don't have, then just give the customer the run around... free pay day loan and no interest!

(Day 31 since I ordered a GAME-LE, Day 12 without a useful response to my ticket on where it is)

I've been a customer for about 10 years, though not had any dedicated servers with them in probably 4 or 5 years, so it's not that

OVH has a government backing in France and quite possibly in Canada as well.

Meaning they don't go down unless they screw up so badly to a point that Elon Musk will comment.

Probably why they don't give a shit about their customers

  • deankdeank Member, Troll

Put yourself in their shoes. Why should they care about customers? They are already big enough to a point that advertising is not needed. Low end people will gladly, and possibly unwillingly, advertise for them.

Burnt down a whole god damn building? So what? Their insurance will take care of it. Higher premium? So what? Ask governments for more funding.

nope, insurance claim will cover the equipment loss and loss of profit - the quickest way to show the shareholders the profit.

I agree, this pay day loan scheme has been working for them for years as well it seems, so if it's not broken, why fix it?

Surprised they haven't had more "accidents" then, easier than having to do any actual work.

31 days? Unlikely. While I have always been a fraud in the past and denied everything (upfront, not taken any time to verify), this time, on BF sale, i really got it in 2 hours.

it's not their first fire or "accident". Similar to Microsoft Ireland datacentre accident - fire caused by lightning strike.

They're definitely, and very clearly, going under. You should file a chargeback, press charges with the police, and hire a lawyer immediately.

    3 things

    1. That server's plan code has been removed which means it is no longer being actively assembled, so you would have to wait, at a minimum of 44 days from when you purchased it hoping that they honor your order and deliver you another customer's cancelled and recycled server.
    2. If you still do not get delivery, that means that server is being repurposed for a different model after being recycled, like the RISE-GAME-2
    3. Why would you buy such a shit server and on top of it buy it so late? It seems like you generated a order while the server was in stock but paid for it once it ran out of stock. Their sales clearly state there is limited stock.

I'm starting to seriously question your decision making as well as your reading skills.

What are you talking about? Lol. The RISE-GAME-2 is an identical configuration to the one I ordered except it's on 500Mbps instead of the 1Gbps, and the GAME-LE was about £20 - £30 cheaper. I ordered and paid for it within about 5 - 10 minutes of each other.

Also, OVH support originally told me it would take a maximum of 15 (business) days.

As for why I bought it so late? I wasn't in the market for a server, then online.net said they were sunsetting one of my servers early this year, so I looked for a new server, saw that deal (Ryzen 7 3800X, 64GB RAM, 2 x 960 NVME, 1Gbps) which came to a total of £70.93 inc VAT, and ordered it, not sure why you think that is a shit server.

All these nonsense because they didn't deliver your server?

Why not cancel the order and go with someone else with instant provision and 2x the price.

  • MikeAMikeA Member, Patron Provider

They are probable out of GAME-LE then. Ask for a refund and normal the normal Game line on their website if you want fast delivery.

  • Just wait or move on.

Since when OVH care about their provisioning time or response time of tickets for their servers.

Lol, I'll crawl back in my box. I was being tongue in cheek. I'm just frustrated that when I bought it was advertised as 72 hour setup, then after contacting support several days later I was told it would be a maximum of 15 days, and I believe it was still on sale for a couple of days after I ordered. After a further discussion they said that was 15 working days.

I wouldn't be so frustrated if I hadn't been waiting for a reply to a support ticket asking for more details for over 12 days (there was a reply 7 days ago now saying "I am passing your inquiry to the server delivery team. I will soon be back with more information on your case." and nothing since).

It's not that hard to manage a customers expectations. The server was advertised as 72 hours, if it's going to take longer than that, drop the customer an email, don't wait for the customer to contact you first. If you then tell them it will take a maximum of 15 days and then it's going to take longer, drop them an email and let them know what's going on.

The 120s logo is the best bait, the french man could ever invent.

    1. You need a verified account
    2. The payment needs to be validated without any issues and verified
    3. OVH actually needs to have the hardware racked
    4. It also needs to be available

If you match all 4/4 congratulations!

I doubt they have unracked ones as most are very old. Once they are unracked, that is probably the one way trip to the recycling factory.

Oh, and I did have a validated account, enterprise card and all that shit, but it still took a few hours, even as the servers were on sale for all day. If I knew this time they will let the order through I would have taken 2x :P

You get that shiny PDF, with tests and sorts of shit.
Pretty sure they run an automated load test + disk test before it returns to the pool.

Full smart test going to take a bit.

  • 31 Days? I ordered a SYS-4-SSD 3 days ago on a brand new account at 17:41 and received the installation email at 17:44. It took 3 minutes for server delivery.
