VM Specialist Christmas/New Year Offers!

Mr_TomMr_Tom Member, Host Rep

Merry Christmas everyone!

We'll be doing a few offers over the next couple of weeks so keep an eye on this thread as various offers are posted! The range is available here and will be added to as we add more stock/offers.

Reasons to choose us:

  • Custom ISO support
  • Nested virtualisation enabled (VM-x/AMD-V)
  • 24/7 support
  • best effort DDoS protection
  • /64 IPv6 per VM on all locations
  • noVNC access
  • Snapshots/backups on all NVMe plans (any existing clients who don't see this option please get in touch)
  • Free (or reduced) DirectAdmin available on certain plans

First up, let's kick things off with some storage. These are KVM VMs in Helsinki, on Hetzner network.

  • 1 core
  • 1gb ECC RAM
  • 1tb HDD
  • 5tb transfer @ 1gbps
  • 1 x IPv4, /64 IPv6
  • £37.50/year - Order

And slightly bigger

  • 2 core
  • 2gb ECC RAM
  • 2tb HDD
  • 10tb transfer @ 1gbps
  • 1 x IPv4, /64 IPv6
  • £55/year - Order

Also, if anyone remembers back to BF @Nekki generated a coupon code. If you can remember the code (or find it), it's still valid for 50% off our 4tb storage VM (4 core/4gb RAM/4tb HDD). I've not linked this directly/put pricing as it's technically over the normal LET offer limit.

TL;DR terms

  • No torrenting/anything likely to be classed as copyright infringement.
  • No hardware intensive workloads (crypto, etc). If you're encoding please contact us and we'll look at whether it will have a negative effect on other users.
  • No SPAM

All prices exclude VAT where applicable.
Orders are manually approved/checked/etc.
Payment method(s): card via Stripe. Orders not paid within a reasonable timeframe will be removed.

Thanks for reading.

Don't worry - I was working on trying to offer a hybrid deal for Christmas/New Year - but no exact ETA on when ;)

There's 2 uses left on the 4tb HDD plan if anyone is interested.

Edit: And plenty of the 1tb/2tb plans too :)

  • Though I am still counting how many machines I got on BF, I couldn't resist on another 4TB storage:

Yabs for my first VPS from Mr Tom: (4TB storage plan, it shows 18.2 because I made a second partition during installation):

UK based storage might be tempting. Though Helsinki might be tempting enough.

But before I sign up for anything else I should probably finish rearranging things (making use of new services, maybe dropping old) after signing up for stuff in October & November!

No hardware intensive workloads (crypto, etc). If you're encoding please contact us

If I shovel backups on there, bits of them will occasionally be verified (up to a few hundred Gb read & checksummed). While not terribly intensive (sha512 does a lot less work per byte than transcoding video) this could still look like an encoding workload. I'm happy to use tricks like cpulimit, reducing the impact at any given time but stretching the process over a longer period (these sanity checks are not time sensitive). Or cgroups similarly if IOPs impact is more of an issue than CPU, which it could be on HDD when checking many small files (or cgroups for both, but for just limiting CPU use, and maybe IO throughput as an indirect effect of that, cpulimit is less faf).

We're pretty "fair" to be honest, and we obviously can't see what your workload is on the VM anyway. Spikes are expected with normal usage anyway - it's more that if people are using 100% for hours that will likely affect other users on the same node.

On which offer are you wanting to know? Generally storage is RAID6 but NVMe plans are either RAID1/RAID10.
