SYS SYS-1-SAT-32 | very happy with this dedi

Very happy with this server. I ordered it, and received it within only 10 minutes. That is very good because with kimsufi, I had wait days, which is fine, but it did suck a bit.

As for the hard drives, some of the drives have hours of over 30k on them, which is a bit alarming:
Disk 1:
9 Power_On_Hours 0x0012 096 096 000 Old_age Always - 28390
Disk 2:
9 Power_On_Hours 0x0012 096 096 000 Old_age Always - 28284
Disk 3:
9 Power_On_Hours 0x0012 093 093 000 Old_age Always - 53797
Disk 4:
9 Power_On_Hours 0x0012 096 096 000 Old_age Always - 33682

You can expect a R/W speed of at least 130MB/s if you do RAID 10 (I'd do a YABS, but I'm dealing with a RAID 10 sync, so performance is piss-poor). The default RAID 1 config was giving me at least 103MB/s.

The CPU is a lot better than what I had with my KS server, though, and I'm able to get a 3000 multi core score with GB5. I'm sure that hetzner is better, but the latency for me, to the US, is not so great (smallish ISP, so peering is a bit iffy).

I managed to luck out, and I got a server with symmetrical gigabit, which, for $26.99 USD/month is a fucking good deal, shall we say? Kimsufi sucked having only 100mbit ;)

Notes for OVH (if they see this thread):

  • Let a user transfer their failover IPs from OVH to SYS
  • Perhaps clean up your disgusting codebase that has poor checking (easy to grab user account info from an OVH dedi), and is responsible for the recovery environment?

Comments

  • Very good expectations. Are you really low ender? If machine not on prod, YAB it. Wanna see some digits.

  • Single core looks pathetic. Some vps has over 1k in single core. Damn.

that is to be expected. that is not a powerful cpu but it can get the job done

underserver failed miserably so stay tuned for tinysrv black friday offers

VPS cpu core may be allocated 20% (if not oversold). On the other hand, this is a dedicated server … no sharing of CPU or disk I/O plus dedicated port speed

  • which DC if i may ask?
