New TLd '.p'
by chance noticed this TLD on Namecheap.
a year ago I got a two-letter domain with a two-letter TLD, but only one letter TLD looks cool, so I purchased one of those.
CF still dont reconise it.
go grap one.
Comments
3 letter .p is 34.99 a year.
But this is not normal tld, https://www.namecheap.com/support/knowledgebase/article.aspx/10484/2278/namecheap-handshake-tlds/
Yeah this is technically rubbish for me since it is a handshake domain according to namecheap and cannot resolve inbrowser without special config but maybe one day would be worth it(???)
So you can’t navigate to it without using special resolvers?
thats correct, i give it a 4-5 months. (i hope). but its still looks cool
i got a 2 letter .p one
These Handshake names topic was discussed in another thread just recently.
They’re available at EnCirca, Namecheap, Porkbun and some other places - not many for now.
All in all, by the time these will have any value on them, if they even make it, the current gTLDs (.com/.net/.org etc.) would probably be even more valuable by then.
I mean it does sound good on paper and all but there’s a long long way to go.
Just my opinion.
Yeah but support is ramping up to higher levels than I ever expected, so it's worth keeping an eye on. Some VPN services are doing it, NextDNS is doing it. My whole home network resolves them now.
Like Doge - get in early, then ride it to the moon!
wtf does p stand for? pepe?
Still waiting for .nigh tld.
I'm still waiting for .blackfriday
I wouldn't mind .DP tld, either, in all caps.
.blackfriday
already exists.Example: https://mxroute.blackfriday/
Best from 2020:
I bought NHS because of this thread and bid for my handshake extension. LEL.
porn
I'm waiting for a .scam TLD
maybe a few days later you can buy a.a from me, only if you are using my dns server
der.p
p is for push-ups, obviously.
I see what you did there. But I don't think you did.
I opened a thread recently about these types of domains, and Porkbun kindly gave us a reply why they sell these.
Be careful on Black Friday, as you might see these on special offers. They do not resolve for now; but I guess the ball is now in the public DNS resolvers yard to add the handshake connectivity.
Personally I like the idea of a decentralized internet, away from politics and agencies corruption. I want to see this succeed, especially when big registrars want to join this train.
I have personal DNS, and I intend to include this too in my personal resolvers.
I would like to run a node specifically for this but I'm already too lazy to do it. Just bid to reserve a name on namebase and wait what happens next.
thats my thoughts too. and i do not think it will be too long till browsers support it too, looking at you FF.
Maybe OpenNIC can help?

Microsoft don't like these alternative registries 'for now'.

Does MicroSoft like anything anyway? They kill their own products for fun.
They have a lot of nice short domains still free. Most popular already taken.
Handshake TLDs will get available later, because some will forget to renew. There is a small mining fee every 2 years from what I read, so people will search them just like they search for available ".com" domains. One can also negotiate a subdomain (domain) of a TLD with the owner. I have not tested thoroughly, but I can see this text when gifting subdomains (of TLD):
Please note this domain will be transferred instantly and all transfers are final.
- so I guess domains can be "gifted" if you negotiate. If Microsoft is worried, I personally don't care. What I do know is that we need a decentralized internet, out of corporations control and monopoly.
