Introducing new category - Service Transfers

FAT32FAT32 Administrator, Deal Compiler Extraordinaire

As we are approaching the sales session (Black Friday / Cyber Monday / Christmas / New Year), there might be a lot of service transfers that will happen.

After a discussion with other admins, we decided to create this new forum category to allow the transfer of services.

The rules for this category are similar to Domain Auctions, but it is not auction-based.

  1. Posting service transfers do not require any special tags.
  2. Members can only list 1 service transfer thread per 10 days.
  3. You need to have been registered for at least 30 days and have at least 25 non-spammy posts to post a service transfer.
  4. The selling price for the service cannot be more than 2 times the recurring price, or $10, whichever is higher.
  5. The transfer must be allowed by the provider and done in official methods. Transferring the whole account by changing the account information is not allowed.
  6. We don't hold any responsibility for potential disputes between the two parties. Participating in service transfers is at your own risk.

For example:

A great deal of "1GB KVM for $12/yr" can only be resold for at most $24, regardless of the remaining period of the service.

An insane deal of "1GB KVM for $0.5/m" can be resold for at most $10, as $10 > $1.

    Can we get that translated in Chinese for our MJJ cousins?

    he did only read half of the context probably.

    yet the cheaper/better the offer, the higher the value to tranfer it, so kinda contradicting to be fair.

    The idea of the rule is just to prevent from scalpers, the intention is not to allow someone to make a quick buck but rather let go of their service when not needed

    Suggestions and feedback are welcome :)

    @FAT32 Should this category be used for Service Transfer Requests (e.g. Looking for rare BF 1997 0.69UGX/year VPS) or should those still be in Requests or are those not allowed at all?

    If I changed the billing period to annualy. It'll be $6/y, then i can sell it at a higher price, right?

    did not read only half of the content. If you have a killer deal for 1 buck per year (from bf) then it's transfer is obviously worth more that 10 bucks. And for the scalpers, they are almost non existant, and if they exist then they are more likely to sell on hostloc rather than LET.

    That will be more suitable in the Requests category

    Assuming you can do that then yes

    Yup, but if thats a killer deal it most likely also mean the provider is losing money on that deal, why not cancel it and return to the pool so provider can profit from that?

  • I was thinking when I saw the thread that this would be a great way to organize free transfers, not so much trading for profit.

    Maybe it could be either a straight giveaway (recipient pays any transfer fees) or an auction for the profit with the transfer fee paid by the seller.

    Wouldn't want to give incentive for people to make deal snatching bots.

    Because this is LowEndTalk not HighEndTalk.

    What if the selling price is not listed in dollars?
    Suppose I have a $15/year service, and I want to sell for 45 push-ups or 12 coconuts?

    Then the most you can take is $10 worth, so 30 pushups OR 8 coconuts.

    Pushups didnt have a known monetary value for it so 45 x $0 = $0

    For coconuts, it depends on the size and a lot of other factors so it is not recommended.

    Basically, you need a trusted platform that shows the conversion rates between the asking price and value of the service.

    Nope, the rule is at most twice of recurring price or $10, whichever is higher so he can sell it at at most $30.

    Thanks for clarifying that, as you can see I had read it as whichever is LOWEST which is obviously not right.

    Okay so a $5/year deal is the tipping point where it's 5*2=10 or just 10. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

    Who said push-ups are worthless?

    15 push-ups == 1 RackNerd backpack
    1 RackNerd backpack == $40 Amazon backpack + RackNerd logo
    RackNerd logo == ?

    24 push-ups + $8.40 == Nexril 1GB VPS for one year
    Nexril 1GB VPS for one year == $32.40 regular, $16 discounted

    32 push-ups == yoursunny push-up logo made by @FAT32
    yoursunny push-up logo made by @FAT32 == ?

    Your pushups are not worthless, but pushups from others (which is the members you are selling to) are not yet valued .

  • @FAT32
    How would the transfer fees mandated by the host, if it exist, figure out in the computation of the maximum transfer price? Should it be included to it or is it a different variable?

    Transfer can be excluded from the calculation of max price since the profiting party is the provider and not the seller.

  • Beware of creating too many categories. This can live in General category IMO with the transfer rules.

    That's a good point, but it is important for members to easily find service transfers.

    It is possible for us to remove / merge category when needed so should be fine (Will do that to the 2018 BF/CM category in the near future, which has been deprecated)
