[Asia] OVH Public Cloud vs Contabo

I'm using the d2-8 package from OVH which has 8GB of RAM and 50GB of storage which is just normal SSD, not NVMe as I know, and it costs me 22$/m.
Now if I use VPS L from Contabo for Asia region (30$/m), I will have 30GB of RAM and 200GB of NVMe which is a big win for me.
With 30GB, I can cache my whole app on the memory so the CPU doesn't really matter for me.
Should I change my provider to Contabo, what is the catch?
Will I have higher latency if I use Contabo? will I have more chance to get hardware defect?
I see a lot of bad reviews about Contabo so I'm afraid to change

contabo should be fine for your use case
just note that the disk isn't super fast or anything

Compare to what? I would be glad if it is faster than the SSD one from OVH, I know I will have i/o limits but will it be faster than the normal SSD?
My app is heavily cached but still do a lot of db read.

  • Ovh cloud support is non-existent.

if you ask them to lift io limits then you should be good
in benchmarks the nvme seems to be similar to a slower ssd in smaller block sizes, but this is with the io limits on

Contabo CPU not so consistence, for my VPS, I always have the CPU steal between 0.1 to 0.3. Disk IO is limited but it is still better than ssd. Network connection still not as good as OVH if you are connecting from Asia.

It is a lot cheaper than OVH. Please do remember there is add on per month for VPS in asia.

0.1-0.3 st is very good for this price

They revert limits after some days so you constantly would need to message them...

I've asked them and so far so good. But it was about a week ago.
