Trolling attempt? The guy just basically publicly stated he's incompetent for placing such a large order to a distressed provider. If he's not the owner, he should be nervous about keeping his job.

It's one thing to place the order before March, not so much in May.

Edit: wait, when did this shit start, again?

I think people in this thread are more interested to hear how cociu treats his customers rather than my competence.

If he is really back in business, ask yourself when will he fix your vps if he does not move a finger for a customer with 100 dedicated.

Again, I work with him since 2019. Delays and lies I was used to, but running away if the money is something new.

See, that's your problem, you are only one customer and he's got your money. He can put out one fire with you or many fires by investing your money back into something he can sell to replace your money. In theory.

Again, I work with him since 2019. Delays and lies I was used to, but running away if the money is something new.

Annnnd now you have no sympathy.

My server is still in WHMCS. It seems it is from one of the (currently) announced IPv4 blocks. No credit, no uptime, no tikets. Ah, no refound either.

Recovering is impossible. He's working hard but it takes too much time. That means losing money. And he's hardly getting any because the free credits and people don't trust him like before. It's sad.
I'd like too see him recovering, but it's too late for that.

pretty much this. and it seems he is not even able to take care of existing clients that are not lowend but rather dedis or larger VMs. so without earning anything even cutting costs or selling assets won't keep you alive for long.

Yet the real reasoning behind the downtime and the 400 drives involucration remains to be told.

The weird thing is that much more services that the ones related to the involucrated storage cluster are offline (probably with hardware and IP blocks for sale)... Makes it harder to imagine how @cociu could recover quickly. He's probably loosing many customers that way.

Your storage cluster is offline but all your other customers are happy: fine, shit can happen.

Your storage cluster is dead and you deliberately kill the remaining services to make some quick cash without selling your crypto assets (unless they are long gone as well) - including the ones of your biggest customers - it's a totally different story.

Especially if the guys story above is true. Remember, @cociu confirmed that very user is a 'very large customer of his' or something to that affect.

Anyway, lets say @cociu went insanely cheap on these boxes at $100/month/ea. At 100 boxes that's still $10k he walked off with. We don't know what CPU was included, but it could easily be double that. I'd expect @cociu to ask for more than 1 month upfront if he's building all of this new.

    Lets recap:

    • Drives failed somehow, no proof of anything, no SMART/SAN reports saying such
    • He sold a /22, got $34,000 or so.
-- More IP's are going up for sale, I don't know the subnet size but even at a /24, current rate is $10k/ea+.
    • Sold a bunch of hardware. 12TB+ drives were listed on there as well.
    • Harddrives are a big ? He claims he had more coming in 'the other day' but nothing has arrived, no word of anyone in RO getting their storage back online.
-- No redacted invoices have been provided showing the harddrives he supposedly purchased.
    • Little to no ones received a refund, at most account credit to some users.
-- Some users have had their services restored, but it seems to be an extremely small handful.
    • One user claims to have prepaid for 100+ ryzen nodes. @cociu confirms this user is a 'large client of his' in his first reach out to the forums.
    • No new /24's have been routed by his ASN since his last message stating things were coming up in his home down DC (the 20th according to bgp.he.net).
    • Nothing else from him it seems?

At this point Chia's dead so drives are starting to hit the market and prices are coming back down to earth. 8TB's are $160 and falling.

He's sitting on a lot of cash and no proof of a single dime of it being spent to recover services.

And this ladies and gentlemen is the truth flat out in my opinion. Thanks a lot for just pointing out the reality. 2.5 months passed already and there is no real work nor effort in resolving the situation, I think in terms of time its more than plenty to fully resolve all the issues (maybe not the whole 400 drives failing issue since that looks to be related to cash but there are clear indications that he's made cash that could at least partially restore service).

Is there a large market in Romania? Why use a provider on another continent if you are American? Especially one that offers little recourse when you get ripped off.

BS again, (a) he's all capitals, and (b) he has posted 1 single comment so far, so there is no basis to expect any particular reaction from him.

You might "think" you are smart but actually the opposite is true.
