If you must keep your data 100% intact, vBulletin 5 is the best option... but vBulletin 5 is very unfortunate.

WOW! You guessed it right that the forum was on vBulletin v3 this whole time. Great guess and thanks for posting. Please will you let me know why v5 is very unfortunate?

I read recently that vBulletin's support for v3 will end and that made me decide to migrate.

    vB3, knew it!

You read recently? vB3 has been end of life for a long, long time.

There are tons of community tweaks on vB.org that can get vB 3.8.11 working with PHP 7.4, that should buy you a lot more time.

vB5 is unfortunate simply because there are little to no users so the community around it is pretty non-existent. Plus, it largely has no real differences to vB3/4.
xenForo (written by the original devs who made vB3) is around the same price point and is infinitely better.

  • I could migrate the db for you, but I don't feel like doing it for discourse

Thank you sincerely Duck. I ended up hiring a very good developer to work on fixing it field by field but there's a lot to fix and it will take another week.
