website with ipv6 only

If a website's domain has ipv6 only for DNS resolution, will a modern browser work when user input the domain in address box? thanks.

If you've set up an AAAA record for the domain, yes it will work.

EDIT: I should probably add that the person viewing the website would need to have an IPv6 network, with the exception of if you are using cloudflare for DNS, you can view an IPv6 only website from both v4 and v6 locations.

    I hope that helps.

  • All browsers should be able to work normally, but it requires users to have an ipv6 address to access an ipv6-only website

  • Browser and IP is different layer of the network.

If the visitor of the website has IPv6 enabled internet access, the website will work just fine. All browsers support IPv6 along with all operating systems (which are not outdated end of life).

Go for it, its the future!

  • You can always use cloudflare and turn on their cdn and they will proxy your ipv6 only site.
