Yeah, I hear there's this terrible disease in '20 that's gonna turn the world upside down!? Stay safe here!...

Kidding aside... Stay safe! Happy Holidays Everyone, (A very belated) Joy To The World (already)!

  • Not quite an original "250", but, I think it fits the occasion... ;)

  • How do you pronounce VirMach

  • I read it as Vir rhymes with ear, Mach like mock, emphasis on Vir.

    Thanked by 1RecD
  • Virtual machines would be Vur-Mosh, but I say Vur-Mock, like fur block.

    Thanked by 1RecD
  • I've always pronounced VirMach as "Vur Mak" or "Vur Mach". The ending "ch" would probably be closer to the ending "k".

    Thanked by 1RecD
  • Yes, I also say it as "vir/ver"+"mack/mac".
(1st part sounding like "vir" as in "virtual" or "ver" as in "version"... 2nd part "mac/k" sounding like Apple "Mac" or McDonalds Big "Mac")

Btw, are there actually really valid eggs?
    Or are those only jokes?
(I'm one of those suckers that actually spend hours trying to look for them... but don't want to waste time if there aren't any! )

And those expired ones found, were they of 2020 or previous years?

And if there really are - are/were they in THIS thread or the other BF2020 virmach thread? Halp!

Also, happy Xmas Tree and leading to New Years, to all cult family.

    Thanked by 1RecD
  • I didn't really find any eggs.

    Or did I?

  • Sshhh...I found one that doubles your bandwidth.

For new order or existed one?

  • I need a VPS with at least 200GB disk in Dallas.

  • I'm hungry. What did you guys have for lunch?

So I'm the only one here to pronounce it more German/Klingon-like then?! :joy:

I say like the first syllable of virtual (i.e. audio - Phonetic: vər ), and the Mach part like the 3rd entry in MW (i.e. audio - Phonetic: mäḵ ).

Since our almighty [thread] creator has not chosen to honor us with a comment, this is indeed my last post on view-count-tracking (you're very welcome for all the thanks on the previous posts!)... I'm keeping my local excel, so, might do updates every couple of months or something, I don't know, we'll see...)

After I posted the above, a follower of the thread asked me to keep on for a while to see if certain things change the trend or not... So, even though I couldn't keep the same frequency, here is the latest table with thread stats.

It would have been nicer to have a "moving average" to see the changes in certain days, but I won't push my Excel skills to that limit as an unpaid intern of the thread!

    Details:

    • Removed the Delta (n-1) column, since it wasn't that helpful w/o me taking snapshots at fixed intervals
    • "Views per" unit has been adjusted to 24 hours (changed from 6 in earlier versions)
    • Changed the representation of "Elapsed Time" after 100 hours.

I could push them for a time-series graph though... A picture is worth a thousand words, right?! ;)

    VirBot™ doesn't like that idea.

When did you buy your 1st vps from VirMach?
For me it was a 256mb openVZ in Phoenix for $1 a month on Aug 7th, 2015.
The oldest vps I have still active is in Frankfort from Apr 9th, 2016.
It seems that the years have flown by.

Black Friday 2017, a Pro+ ovz in LA, which I'm still running today (KVM, of course!)

    3 core, 2G ram, 12 G ssd, 2T xfer, $14 / yr!

    Thanked by 2saibal FrankZ
  • It seems my first server with Virgilio was an E3 / 32GB RAM / 2x1TB disk for $90/quarter from the end of 2016.

My first VPS was an OVZ special for $9/year. 1 core and 1GB RAM.

    Nice.

    Both already cancelled unfortunately.

    Thanked by 2saibal FrankZ
  • What's so great about VPS anyway? It would be more fun if we were all on a shared linux box together...

    Thanked by 1saibal
  • Or we could just share our passwords and run all our apps on the Ryzens that will arrive soon. Mine is V1rm4ch. What's yours?
