A mod can lock this thread now.
Mind keeping it open @Saiku? I'm lurking this thread to see if there's any good < $8/year offers
Agreed,
I don't really care :P. Could see some more offers tho :P
yes was just keep checking this around
found it was interesting
Not so long ago, $15/yr is the bottom price
According to Moore's law, computer double in speed every 18 months so I'd expect prices follow a trend that corresponds to it
The only problem for sometimes now is that the IPv4 is coming to an end and IPv6 is still away from being common/general.
Moore's Law is slowing down for the while. There will be no significant improvements in terms of speed or cost-effectiveness of hardware for the time being.
Until research takes us into graphene or quantum computing, we're stuck in some kind of limbo.

There's a 128MB KVM for $7.50
Bump for moar.
Agreed. I'm still waiting for another 128MB/$8 OpenVZ offer.
I'm curious, what do you guys do with these low RAM VPSs?
Use them as e-pen1s enlargers? All of mine are idle.
I have a simple monitor script that I wrote in bash to monitor uptime across all my VMs. It sends alerts via SMS.
Another script monitors my websites (also in bash) and automatically switches it to a backup server if my main site is down through cloudflare's API.
I need one more VM that monitors both of those containers and have the capability of doing both of those tasks if necessary in case one or both of them go down.
tl;dr - facilitator nodes, more or less
@black nice! got any guides written?
Not really :P It's for personal use.
VPN, ZNC, Static Web Hosting (+ light weight MyISAM dependent dynamics), Tor Bridge (there should be more of these, not more relays), IRC Bot, DNS, Reverse Proxy, SIP, Certificate Authority (for the kicks), Monitoring, RTMP, Tahoe-LAFS, Private CDN
off the top of my head.
wow, thanks @darknyan - that gives me some ideas!!
