Great !
Which time zone is this?
CET Central European Time
Nice
Sadly site is not showing BF announcement if i change language to English
(if price 2, it's lower one)
@hzr is it German time? thanks btw
and date please?
Anyone knows what's behind the:
VPS Black Surprise
RS Black Special 2
RS Black Special 1
offers?
Couldn't find anything on their website and forums.
that's why it's called Surprise ;-) ;-)
we'll most likely only learn during the sale, however based on previous ones, I'd expect the 7.77 VPS to be something along the lines of 4C/8G/750G and the 12.12 accordingly higher... (vserver range = shared cores/threads)
the RS black specials could be based on their G8 line using the xeon gold. maybe the 2000/4000/8000 äquivalent with some more RAM/disk? they do have two of these promos with SSDx4 still running (ref):
https://www.netcup-offers.eu/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2432
https://www.netcup-offers.eu/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2473
with the limited amount especially the smaller offers are usually gone within minutes, so you want to be on time (CET), to be able to grab something...
also make sure you read and understand the differences about contract term length vs billing term and their cancellation policies ;-)
best of luck.
Thanks Falzo!
The only problem is that the regular RS offers are before the black special - so it's a bit "risky" to wait and see.
And a nooby question - what is SSD X4? Something like SSD RAID?
no this just relates to the amount on their regular offer. you get 4 times of that with their offers there. underlying they have some sort of raid/zfs setup anyway.
yes true. especially if aiming for something like RS 2000 - you can either get it for already cheap 11.11 early. or sort of gamble and wait for the 10.10 thingy later.
probably also depends on what you are looking for (e.g. epyc vs xeon gold) and if it's worth that one buck.
they also do a christmas calendar with a different offer each day. I am pretty sure some of the BF offers will pop up there again, so chances are the RS 2000 G) for that price will come a second time then - no guarantues though.
Yeah, that's exactly my position right now.
So not sure if to gamble or not 🙃 (not because of the 1 Euro, more due to the "missed opportunity")
Exactly the same for me. Let's hope for the best.
Did anyone save the specs of those VPS/RS specials and can share it?
Just out of curiosity...
you'll most likely find it if you go through the first pages of the big pinned BF thread. it has been posted there...
Will they have deals tomorrow also with cybermonday?
doesn't look like it. they do run their yearly advent calendar with a daily from dec 1st though.
It's already up with placeholders:
https://www.netcup.de/adventskalender/
So I recently got my account verified and now running a bench on the RS Black Special 1. The TL;DR is that it's essentially a RS 1000 G9 with 4GB more RAM and 160GB more SSD space for the same price. Same Epyc 7702P CPU and 2.5Gbps uplink.
They did charge me 19% VAT despite not a resident or citizen of any EU member country. I paid 124,33 EUR in total (advertised price of 10,10 EUR).
Unfortunately can't resolve the drive model as it shows as "QEMU HARD DISK".
thanks for sharing!
it's no dedi after all, so obviously you'll never find out ;-)
afaik they use some SSD raid-10 storage array underneath and the fio numbers are looking great anyway. seems like pretty nice value for the money, grats!
PS: regarding VAT I think they only remove it, if you can prove that you are a business outside EU, not for private customers though
let's rather not dive into that discussion again, there are quite some strong, different opinions on that - I am sure from their perspective and tax advisory they're doing the right thing 🤷♂️
@CyberneticTitan How long was the whole verification process? I'm still waiting for response from them.
Ah I see. Well I guess I'm OK with it as 10 EUR/mo for this box is an absolute steal.
So they phoned me a few hours after I snagged the box but I was sleeping so I missed it. They then sent me an email for the verification so I emailed them a photo of my ID. My address that I used to sign up was different than my ID as I had moved since then. 24 hours went by with no reply so I thought they just discarded my order because of the mismatch so I just phoned them. Spoke with a nice rep and got my account verified in minutes.
Received reply on mine some hours back finally but they are asking ton of stuff:
Even banks don't ask this much these days. Is phone support only german? Can't find on website.
RS Fairy Lights ADV20

20 GB DDR4 ECC RAM
640 GB SSD
Price: 16,16€ /mo

Wow that's quite a lot of work. Really rules out me trying Netcup for the near future at least.
Thank you for posting that. To add 5 euros to my bill, for 2x the cores and 4x the storage is well worth it for me. Just ordered
How much Bandwidth?
I dont see any details about that.
It is unlimited, 2.5gbps port.
Thats great
Heres a benchmark of that promo : https://www.netcup.de/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2690
