To be honest, I kinda understand their situation. You come to this thread, read the first post, and see an offer that says you should deposit funds. Are you then supposed to sort through 41+ pages of spam and memes to find the post where it says which deals are no longer available? You could and perhaps even should. But one might also assume that, as would be sensible, the first post will be updated accordingly when plans are out of stock.
I don't support or condone posting ticket numbers here instead of going through proper channels, but I can also see how giving them a refund once the dust settles a little might be justified.
I'd also recommend only enabling NFSv4 and disabling NFSv3. It's not mentioned in the article you linked to, but Debian's wiki covers it for Debian: https://wiki.debian.org/NFSServerSetup (see "NFSv4 only" section). NFSv4 only uses one service and one TCP port, rather than the mess of multiple services and ports that NFSv3 uses.
NFS traffic is unencrypted by default which is why it's not recommended for the public internet.
You'll need to use Kerberos to get secure authentication and encryption, but Kerberos is a pain to configure. Wireguard is a much easier way to secure it. If you need to expose your NFS server over the internet to another server, install Wireguard on both servers and add each other as a peer.
Ok so considering the fact that the deals from @hosthatch are over.
How to stop opening this thread & checking for deals
To those asking if the VPS is already provisioned. They are going through tickets. Once they reach yours, they will reply with the following text:
Emphasis on up to 7 business days. If you ordered over the weekend, it will take up to December 8th. Have patience.
HostHatch algo providenciar antes internal network that only the nodes you want.
It's absolutely better to have multiple providers -- you're certainly correct about that, and it's advice that I follow myself and recommend to others.
I was just pointing out that, due to the way HostHatch's infrastructure is built, a failure at one location is very unlikely to affect another. So, inside just one provider, you've already got a high degree of reliability. That doesn't seem to be possible with Netcup, for example. And with OVH, they use their own global network, which lets them reduce their costs. However, a major hiccup there could absolutely affect multiple locations (and I'm pretty sure this has happened).
You have a lot of great Nordic servers, but unfortunately you can't avoid the abuse of dmca by the Americans.
Yes, I get that. This is why it's mentioned in the OP.
Please keep an eye on this thread. We will update as stock in some locations go out. Any orders made after the timestamp of my post saying we are out of stock here will not be provisioned, and your only option will be to change to something else.

There are people who ordered via tickets and realized their mistake and replied saying something along the lines of "Hey I know I made a mistake, and you guys are probably very busy right now so I will wait. But if you could make an exception after the dust settles down, please let me know. Otherwise a refund would be appreciated. If that is not possible, that is also ok because we can keep it for any future deals you offer."
Then there are the ones who blame the problem on us outright, and how our system of ordering is broken and how we are not friendly and breaking whatever law of their local city or town.
You can guess which ones will likely get their servers provisioned or perhaps refunds and which ones will be pointed towards the promotion terms
yes, you are right... however it's up to the provider to decide - and they will certainly do - on a case by case basis.
now reckon who's chances are higher to get what he wants out of it, the reasonable, patient client asking kindly or the lazy entitled loud mouthed impatient turd? ;-) ;-)
however, could also be that I am just the idiot here, because I might not be open minded enough to understand and accept some cultural difference or whatever.
No, you're both absolutely right. There is a right way to approach this, and a wrong way. I have nothing but respect for the amount of patience demonstrated here by @hosthatch and other providers, given the entitlement and childish behaviour of some people. Same for people working in any sort of customer-facing job really - I would've lost my sanity years ago.
I think some of it might be due to culture and a language barrier, but the onus is on each individual to familiarize themselves with the environment they choose to participate in and adjust their behaviour and expectations accordingly. But hey, this is the internet, and the internet is a cesspit.
so much this!!
Quick question: can you stack 2 of the new locations combo (1GB Ram, 10GB disk, $23 /year)?
No, as these are flash packages, we cannot make any changes to them.
I think sometimes there is actually no offense or bad mood from the original intention, just the lack of vocabulary and bad expression skills because of different languages make it like that
@Chronic yup highlighted problem very well . lets hope @hosthatch consider refund to us nooobs
also those who are like me who had got nothing in these deals can buy this cheap 12$ machine very good machine : https://lowendbox.com/blog/racknerds-cyber-monday-is-here-kvm-vps-in-9-locations-starting-at-1-5-gb-ram-12-18-year
What will happen if the flash deal order is still pending for manual review before I sleep? Will it get expired tomorrow?
i had bookmark this link of lowendtalk i will wait for next black friday of 2021 LOL to get cheap machine in it . i was not aware of it that on black friday and cyber monday they sell cheap stuff here . as mostly i use lowendbox to hunt for cheap machines and it work very well and they are not limited to specific days like black friday , my vps is expiring this month so today on lowendbox i found good machine of 1.5 GB ram and 3.5 TB bandwidth and 20 GB SSD for 12$ cool : https://lowendbox.com/blog/racknerds-cyber-monday-is-here-kvm-vps-in-9-locations-starting-at-1-5-gb-ram-12-18-year
I was a little late for the game in ordering. Since the HK VMs are pre-ordered, am I ok on this? Mainly interested in those.
I was in time for the ordering (Stockholm, 4GB/2TB, $80 per 2 years), luckily, and I was happy all day. But I've come to realize now that I might not have ordered anything at all...
While ordering a bit over 12 hours ago, the page
https://manage.hosthatch.com/billing/order/bf-2tb-stowas still available (even after placing my order), didn't have a '404 page not found' error. So I was happy. I filled in all the details, added $$ with paypal to my HostHatch account. The online purchasing seem to be completed, but I never received an e-mail for that Stockholm, 4GB/2TB, $80 per 2 years, and on the servers tab in the HostHatch account panel, the server is not visible at all. And my $ 80 funds, which I deposited with PayPal, is still unused in my account...So I'm beginning to think that my happiness was not justified today
(ticket #439161)
Hopefully if I missed this purchase somehow, I can recover the deposited funds.
I guess, you win some, you loose some
@lebbitso They never promise to deliver them instant. I'm sure you will receive your order.
I feel the same
I'm not here for deals anymore, but just interesting to read messages
Although, I will not refuse any really good and cheap deal
Similar thing happened to me twice during this sale. And with this offer as well, I had to order it 3 times before the order came through and an invoice was created.
If the server is not visible on Servers tab and there is no Invoice for it in Invoices, then I think it wasn't ordered.
I guess you have 2 options here: Hope that the ticket will be resolved in your favor(either a server issued or a refund). Or you can plan how to spend those $80 in deposit.
Some storage offers may still be available
https://manage.hosthatch.com/billing/order/bf-10tb-chi $190/year or $275/2years
https://manage.hosthatch.com/billing/order/bf-2tb-chi $50/year or $80/2years
All offers from here seem to be available as well.

Yeah; I was following the thread and I know they don't deliver instantly. What HostHatch is pulling of is crazy, so many people going for their crazy deals at the same time. LET website going in Cloudflare DDoS mode, 30s page loads
So I'm hoping ofcourse that it will still happen for me; but I would expect an e-mail that confirms that I have filled in a form online; or at the servers tab in the hosthatch account something like 'pending' or 'finalising' or 'to be confirmed'.
I have no doubt the people (around 5 I read somewhere) are working in overdrive mode right now to process all those purchases, tickets, requests from us; crazy LET-ppl.
Yeah; no invoice, no server on server tab. I didn't want to re-order because I don't want to piss them off by having to cancel 2 orders because I would have ordered 3 times or something
I have no worries that something good will come out of those $80; refund or otherwise.
Yeah I considered getting those, althoug it is not ideal. And imagine that my original purchase does come through. I already spent way more money during BF and CM than anticipated.
If the server is not visible on Servers tab and there is no Invoice for it in Invoices, then I think it wasn't ordered.
Yes. I wrote this earlier when I posted the flash deals.
If you are getting an error on the URL, or you place an order and it says "successful" but there is no invoice, it means it is already gone.
If you got it on third try, it means it was out of stock, but we put some back into stock after cancelling unpaid orders, and you were just in time before it went out of stock again.
Thanks for clarifying
@hosthatch Just to quickly clarify since this is my first time ordering from you.
I have done the following as you've mentioned in your first post:
On my Billing tab, I do see that the Invoice shows as "Due today".
The question here is, do I need to go into that Invoice and do the Checkout process? And here I do see the option to apply funds to this invoice. Not sure if this is something that you'd folks take care of when y'all look at the ticket. (This is my only confusion though)
We will likely be able to get you one though - just in a little more time
This thread won't die until servers are provisioned.
From what I see in this thread, I already thought you are awesome. Thanks for confirming your awesomeness and giving me a little bit of hope!
This thread will grow bigger than the "BLACK FRIDAY / CYBER MONDAY OFFICIAL MEGATHREAD + FLASH DEALS "
