Hardware fail, you, only you, are responsible for your data., Backup is the name of the game.
It's even taught in schools.
Both hardware and software raid is not replacement of backups. If the data is very important so the backup option is always available.

Yah, same. Not a huge issue, but it is a bit strange that I didn't even receive an email about this, despite the correct email address being in account information.
