How does the free VPN proxy provider concept work ?.
Since users browse hundreds of TB of data everyday through these free VPN servers, does the same amount of outgoing bandwidth be charged to the server ?.

    Any data being transited through a VPN server has to go in to be recieved and forwarded and then back out to the client. When you receive data it through a VPN, it comes in to the server to be forwarded then back out to you. Due to the overhead of any encapsulation protocol, The ratio of data used by the server will be the inverse of whatever the client's traffic ratios are plus some overhead for the protocol.

    Indeed, someone has to pay for the server. If it's not you paying for the server (either directly, or indirectly): run.

    there is nothing free in this world. If there is a "free" service like VPN, someone still pays for Bandwidth/uplink plus hardware/VM. If someone uses VPN connection and pushed/received 1Tb(IN+OUT) of data this bandwidth will be applied to the machine as bandwidth/uplink usage. If it's over-quota/over the limit, someone will be charged for that.
