Request for a Tokyo VPS
Hello! I'm looking for a Tokyo VPS. At least 2TB monthly transfer. And the server must have acceptable speed and latency in South Korea, United States, Russia and Mainland China.
VZ Type: KVM (or any other full virtualization) (no partial virtualization, e.g. OpenVZ)
RAM: At least 512MB
Disk Space: At least 10 GB
Disk Type: HDD / SSD / NVMe
Bandwidth: At least 1TB per month
Port Speed: At least 100Mbps
DDoS Protection: It doesn't matter
Number of IPs: 1 IPv4. IPv4 & IPv6 is better.
Location: Tokyo, Japan
Budget: 15 USD/monthly
Billing period: Monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually
Extra requirements:
- allows Tor traffic (not as a relay, nor as an exit node) (optional)
- allows private proxying
- connected to Softbank, KDDI, and/or IIJ
- below 150ms in Mainland China, below 70ms in South Korea
(Friends from Iran will have their traffic redirected in United States or Russia, so the quality of connection between US/RU and JP is very important)
Comments
I think @seriesn have a Tokyo datacenter. Here is a link to their ToS - https://my.nexusbytes.com/knowledgebase/3/Nexus-Bytes-LLC-Terms-of-Service.html - Maybe Tor is not allowed, but you mentioned it as optional..
Thanks! I will do some tests to see if its connected to Softbank, KDDI or IIJ.
Vultr
Thanks for the prem mention boss
Would love to have you join the family, but quick fyi:
Would be rough during peak hours
As long as there's no baby mama drama.

There will be a promo announced "soon". If you are not in a rush
Did some tests. Their Tokyo datacenter sure has good connection to South Korea (32ms) and United States (108/119ms), but their connection to Moscow (212ms), Yekaterinburg (234ms) does not look well. Especially their connection to Mainland China, which is 423ms in my tests.
But still, thank you for recommending it!
Vultr connects to NTT, which is the worst possible carrier between Mainland China and Japan according to my Chinese friends
+1 for nexus bytes @seriesn - he runs an excellent service
NTT in JP has the most stable latency to mainland China vs any other T1s standard transit product.
To be quite honest boss, NTT and softbank are probably your best bet on budget mainland connectivity. http://lgger.nexusbytes.com might be a slightly better option if you are looking for a decent asia/europe balance
Contacted my Chinese friends for help. According to their tests, your Tokyo servers has a relatively low latency only if they are using China Mobile as their carrier... For China Unicom and China Telecom users, the latency is a nightmare. Seems that the Tokyo datacenter does not yet fit for them... Sorry.
China Mobile: 186ms
China Unicom: 352ms
China Telecom: 301ms
Softbank is ranked as the best provider by them, that's what I currently know... They have a lot of complains towards NTT.
Asked some of my friends. They say this is partially true only if they are using China Mobile. For China Unicom and China Telecom users, NTT is the worst.
your best bet is Vultr Chinese people will literally never have good latency
You can try https://greencloudvps.com/japan-ssd-kvm-vps.php
Test IP: 103.121.210.1
Seems to route through IIJ
NTT is barely usable in mainland China, especially during peak hours. Don't waste your time on those providers.
Take a look at greencloudvp @NDTN . It's the budget choice of many Chinese users. They connect to IIJ I believe.

If they provided a 2TB monthly data transfer inside a $15/mo budget it will be much better. Their $6/mo tier in Tokyo is now out-of-stock, and $10/mo tier does not increase monthly transferring quota...
I originally were seeking for a VPS for at least 2TB monthly transfer, but later I thought it might not be possible to get 2TB... After seeing GreenCloudVPS, I realized it is possible, but I cannot revert my changes...
Hello,
We do have Storage1TBAPAC for $84/year: https://greenkvm.com/ available in Tokyo with 2TB bandwidth.
Thanks!
The support below is very terrible, so think again.

@NDTN In my experience, the service he provided was the best.
Ask them if you can buy more bandwidth on smaller plans. It might still in your budget.
Wow, thanks! Will prepare some tests!
According to their traceroute results, your Tokyo servers connects to IIJ, which is to their delight. And the latency is very low. Thank you for the offer!
Latency tests
* China Mobile: 135ms
* China Unicom: 62ms
* China Telecom: 76ms
Maybe amazon lightsail? Don't know much about it's network.
Thanks! You can give us a try, we do have 7-day money back guarantee.
You could check out Linode - they have a Tokyo DC and they meet your requirements for $5/mo. Don't know about the connectivity though you can pay per hour to test.
