I second this! This is quite handy when I'm directly working and DA panel and don't have to start FTP/WinSCP program to do the same task!
DirectAdmin is not creating it. It gets created when ANY user on a linux system gets created whether a panel is installed or not. It cannot be deleted without deleting the user.
If you mean File Manager in DirectAdmin then it can already be done. File Explorer usually refers to the Windows file management system. If that is what you mean then that is way more complicated and has nothing to do with DirectAdmin.
Whether is a separate FTP program or Windows File Explorer I don't see what the difference is. Still another program has to be started. Just use the File Manager in DA to edit files.
It's not hidden anymore
Update to pre-release and you'll have native ModSecurity control available on admin/user levels.
It shows log entries when rules are hit (requires re-installation of ModSecurity, just "cd /usr/local/directadmin/custombuild; ./build update; ./build modsecurity", to support JSON-format logs), allows end-customers to disable just a specific rule or disable ModSecurity on their domain at all.
On admin level you can modify settings for any of the domains, check the global log (entries for all the domains) and disable the rules globally.
Pre-release also include some nice goodies like zstd for backup compression, PHP settings editor on user-level, faster plugin loads on Evolution. And that's just the beginning.
Thank you!
DA is motoring now.... i thought it was a bit quiet earlier in the year...

Thanks for all the effort guys!

Recently been having issues with clients mailboxes filling up and them not getting any notifications appear from in happy calls from clients getting a message that ‘their mailbox is full’
Is there a GUI interface where we can set % usage alerts to the client when their mailbox is 80% then 90% and finally 95% sorta like a 1at warning, second warning and a final ‘ your mailbox is full. Please login to webmail and delete some stuff’
CLI at this time: https://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=625
Feature request for GUI may placed at feedback.directadmin.com, it lets us prioritize the things.
BTW, we support 70+ DNS providers for Let's Encrypt wildcard certificates in pre-release now: https://forum.directadmin.com/threads/letsencrypt-2-0-with-70-dnsproviders-ready-for-basic-testing.61668/
More goodies are coming
Not sure if this is an issue or I'm being ignorant....mod_php version is not the same as the php version being set as default in php selektor...it is mod_php's version is shown on phpinfo...this happens on buyshared @Francisco ...
@smtalk I am trying out the pre-release version with the PHP settings. Is there anyway this can be listed as one page rather than selecting each individual item?
All the customized options should be shown in one page. We didn't want to list them all at once when not customized, because we wouldn't like to save some values as 'custom', if you didn't change them. It can be workarounded with showing "save" button on every single line, but it'd hurt aesthetics a bit I think? We're open for suggestions though
feedback.directadmin.com is one of the best places for this.
Thank you!
Didn’t realise it would save an option as a custom setting even though hasn’t been changed. I was thinking along the lines of how CloudLinux layout for custom PHP settings. I just think aesthetically and for user experience having them all shown as a single page rather than drop down options would have been better.
Keep up the good work though and carry on with adding new features as you guys are.
Finally https://docs.directadmin.com has all the info now, and it's live
Not sure it suggest or not but when admin or reseller view end-user-account owner email also mention
[Having just installed DA on a fresh @Francisco VPS, I needed LE info and Yahoo! pointed me at the 'old' documentation.]
Absolutely love DirectAdmin. Have been using it for about 5 years now, and would prefer it over cPanel anytime. Got like 5 lifetime licenses as well
Directadmin is awesome

A request not to delete child accounts when a reseller account is deleted, plus a confirmation dialogue.
(See the other greener side for details.)
Question,
How would you handle canceling reseller accounts in that case? Don’t want to get stuck with end users client, when a reseller doesn’t pay their bill.
There should be an option to delete child accounts but not by default, IMO. At least give a warning?
I guess a warning would be nice if it is not an API call?
I know one thing I found odd when I was getting used to DA was, initially, if you deleted "admin" account, it would endup taking down all the reseller accounts that were first created under that "User ownership".
Some form of warning/check box would be nice for new users/unsuspecting admins
. But I can also see how someone can easily forget about that during the initial development and it becomes more like "Err, it should be given" type of thought process.

I hear what you're saying. I guess our logic is, if you have someone who pays for reseller hosting and they cancel the service (or don't pay their bill) you aren't going to keep hosting their customers for free. Deleting them is like a rm -rf. Maybe you have a scenario in mind that I'm not grasping. Wouldn't be the first time.
Easiest would be to just move the accounts (Users) under a different Reseller, then you can simply delete the empty Reseller.
It seems self-evident to me, assuming you know "admin" is like a root directory, "reseller" is a subdirectory, and "user" is a subdirectory of that. But you make a good point. Not everyone will know or assume this. Our warning message could be better. Instead of a yes/no if you want to delete an admin (or reseller), perhaps it could mention that all accounts under it will be removed too. Bob prefers to avoid accidents!
This is the key.
In my particular case, all I wanted to do was tidy up the user account structure.
I guess my secondary point (made elsewhere) drives this home. A restore of a user account will happily reassign itself to admin, where the original Reseller account is 'missing'. A logical progression might be there's an option (tick box/modal) to do the same with user accounts when deleting a Reseller.
With the benefit of hindsight, this is indeed what I should have done.
I like the way it is now. I am just curious why do you not want to delete the reseller's user accounts when it is belong to the reseller? What are you gonna do with the reseller's user accounts? I hope you do not just steal it from the reseller
. It is not yours to keep. So, if the reseller request to cancel/delete it, you need to delete the entire data.
People use hosting in different ways. I am the root/admin/"Reseller" and one of the users on a number of servers. I don't resell hosting services whatsoever - the Reseller level appeared to be a forced administrative model when DA was originally setup. If it was apparent that admin could be used as the Reseller, then a separate one would never have been created.
WHM/cPanel encourages the use of Reseller too, so this architecture is not a criticism of DA. In fact, it provides a level that doesn't need "superuser" privileges and so I agree with it. It just doesn't suit my needs.
The shocker was the immediate and unprompted deletion of the user accounts. As said, the benefit of hindsight.
