@seriesn Would you also be willing to e-mail me about that as well? I already passed your request onto the lead dev and he did mention some hurdles/assumptions that would have to be made in order to make this work. So it would be really helpful to get your opinion on how you want this to "just work"  We're more than willing to make this happen

I actually saw similar request by others on the feedback page. Simply casted my vote. Will email you my kind sir.

(end user): The API documentation is "lacking" to say the least, also the DA API for letsencrypt is painful, when compared to cpanel anyway. I worked it out in the end, by looking at network activity in my browser when using DA. Shouldnt really have to do that.

Just to clarify that we won't need to open any support ticket for the DNS Only License?

    Negative

Thought I'd login to my BuyVM DA instance ('cos hadn't for a wee while), as opposed to my UK one. Light bulb moment!
My previous comments on mod_sec make much more sense. If Comodo WAF is chosen then there's a GUI in DA, whereas OWASP (my usual ruleset) doesn't have one. Now that explains why some may have been confused by my questioning the lack of a GUI.
Anyone else for ConfigServer ModSecurity Control? ;) Old WHM/cPanel habits die hard.

We want to push everything through one centralized location in order to keep ourselves accountable and actually get it done. I think @AlwaysSkint is the best example of someone willing to hold us accountable so we want to keep up with that.

I'm well pleased that you recognise that I try to give constructive criticism, based on decades of being a crabby b'stard in various IT roles. Thanks for the 'encouragement' though you may live to regret it. ;)

I want Acronis to hurry up and release their plugin. I've been backing up my DA installs with Acronis now for months, no issues and it works great.

JetBackup for Linux works great too, wish people would give them a chance to fix the bugs though. Their panel is excellent, DA is new territory for them.

Isn't it JetBackup for CentOS though? Debian/Ubuntu would be nice for once.

  • JetAppsJetApps Member

    Hi @Ympker ,

Our team has started laying down the groundwork needed for Debian-based OS Support for JetBackup across panels/platforms but can't provide an ETA just yet. Our team is currently working on CentOS 8 support, then Debian and Ubuntu are to follow.

Please stay tuned for future announcements on our social media channels and thank you for your continued interest and support of JetBackup.

    Thank You.
    Anton, JetApps Team.

They should create a script to import cpanel backups to directadmin, Otherwise the migration to it will be hard. If you are migrating a large number of accounts.

They literally have that and it works very well.

A big shout out to mark for his sincere efforts in making DA convenient. I am again reporting something I think is very inconvenient :)

I guess we are too busy requesting administrative side of things.

I am working on a website with ~150 PHP pages and it is not a good experience to upload files using the file manager. I need quick uploads as I was modifying bits and the client was seeing them from their computer. I know I can use FTP, but for quick edits in a demonstration, the file manager can be more convenient.

The new file/upload buttons need to be at the top of the page, where they are easy to find after a page load.

From a developers point of view, the current location is very inconvenient. Each time I have to scroll down to click on the upload button. With 150+ files on the page, I have to scroll a lot.

Some websites have 500~ pages. It would be a nightmare working with them on the current file manager. I have to make quick changes many times, and upload them quickly when a client is reviewing them.

The file manager does feel a lot slower, too. While making it appear faster might need some time, it would really be convenient if the location of those buttons can be changed.

Perhaps a toolbar at the top of the page with function buttons, or at the top of the current left sidebar?

  • @MechanicWeb -- that's a legitimate observation and I think we can do better than just add some new buttons to our old/outdated/slow file manager. :)

We've coded a brand-new file manager from scratch, and the old one is being kicked to the curb. The new file manager will be much more powerful and efficient. And I don't mean sometime in the distant future.. you should see it in the next release or two. So I would invite your feedback on it, when it is released. :)

In the meantime, you can probably speed up the file manager a decent amount by skipping the directory size count.. Try:

    /usr/local/directadmin/directadmin set filemanager_show_directory_count 0
    service directadmin restart

Thank you for the update and the code. I didn't even know that the directory size count can be disabled, at least I couldn't find something similar in the docs.

It is reassuring to know that you have already identified an issue and are working on the file manager.

I am looking forward to it!

Speaking of that, our new docs page should be out very soon too.

But thanks for understanding. Adding new buttons doesn't make sense for a file manager we are likely to trash in the next release. Your feedback was very timely (and polite) and it shows a how a new/better file manager is really needed. So it was the perfect chance to announce that we've been working on something better!

  • Can we have an option to do a padded format if the digit length is 1? YYYY-MM-DD.

Minor issue I know, but it's driving me nuts every time I see it.

    +1.

This is a very good idea, too.
Maybe add an option to display date format, or just change the entire formatting to YYYY-MM-DD

That was a bug, we didn't want it to work that way, as we wanted to use ISO standard  It's now YYYY-MM-DD by default (in pre-release and next stable), thank you for the report!

Is it possible to display the origin of the DNS records on a Multi Server Setup?

If a record came from Server01, Server01 will be displayed next to the DNS record on the DNS Slave's DNS List on the DNS Administration page. It would be handy, no?

  • JamesFJamesF Member, Host Rep

I see what you mean.... that's a pretty good idea. features board?
