Php selektor and jailed php (user can't see outside it's directory)

Done! SSH/Crons and FastCGI for now: https://www.directadmin.com/features.php?id=2740.

It won't work with LXC/OpenVZ containers at this time. Virtualizations like KVM/XEN/VMware/Hyper-V/Virtualbox are totally fine!

PHP selector only allows for 'global' selection, not configuation 'per folder'. In cPanel we can configure php version per folder. Is the same feature possible on DirectAdmin?

It's already enabled in our servers, for end users too :)

Maybe we're talking about different issues? which of the two issues is enabled? individual SSL or the ability to use the same doc root for add-one domains? (for me, I need both)

    Custom folders for add-on domains.

Individual SSLs should be supported too, not sure if I got it right :)

One change I'd like to see is how changing an accounts password works.

Right now you have to go to /reseller/passwords and manually type the username.

This should at the very least be linked from the user lists page in the right side, if not turned into a modal on that same page.

This page isn't linked on modify user page either and should be if possible.

EDIT - clarifying a few parts.

EDIT 2 - I think the modify user link should be added to the right side drop down of the show users page as well.

    Francisco

"Modify password" is on "+" actions in "Show All Users" in 1.61RC1. "Modify user" is placed as a tab now, so, no need to click on "actions" anymore

^ As said before CSF should be configured to handle brute force, with no need for the additional admin of fail2ban. CSF handles additional log monitoring, if needs be, and we just need a DirectAdmin specific regex to detect the brute force login.

.. to auto include the ipban script that's on the forums.

That script is full of bad assumptions (not just ssh port) and tries to tackle methods that are already a part of CSF.

Thanks for pushing us on https://www.directadmin.com/features.php?id=2617  Included in 1.61RC1: https://forum.directadmin.com/threads/directadmin-1-61-0-release-candidate-1.61252/post-313789

Can't believe how much DirectAdmin has improved in less than a year! Great job, I'm amazed.

I'm still missing the possibility to upgrade/downgrade from user to reseller in Admin area and be able to customize php.ini files directly from user interface, as nowadays most scripts require custom php.ini

Still amazed how much you guys have improved

This would be neat. Especially for migrated users who go from a shared to reseller or vice versa.

    DA has come on....

I wonder if they will make the install quicker and give more options in the GUI as well as making changes quicker rather then re compiling all the time?

I’ve been checking the feedback section on DirectAdmin and there are a lot of good requests, over 120 ideas, but one regarding editing PHP at user level wrote:

‘Just so you know. I spoke to them and they don't want to be or surpass cpanel. They actually like being Smaller and Simpler. Not that your idea is bad I wanted you to know in relation to this "if directadmin want to capture the market and surpass the cpanel"‘

    https://feedback.directadmin.com/b/feature-requests/the-biggest-drawback-that-i-realised-in-directadmin/

Not sure how true this is?

There was another request asking for PHP.INI on user level. I agree that this id a must have feature, as htaccess method does not work well with LiteSpeed

    I don't really think it's true:

Today one of host provider denied to disable open basedir and asked me to shift on cpanel for this feature. I could not be able to run a php script that requires disabling of open basedir so I unfortunatily shifted to cpanel for that script to run.

    open_basedir admin-level settings shouldn't be overriden by a user. Please check https://www.php.net/manual/en/ini.core.php#ini.open-basedir:

As of PHP 5.3.0 open_basedir can be tightened at run-time. This means that if open_basedir is set to /www/ in php.ini a script can tighten the configuration to /www/tmp/ at run-time with ini_set().

Meaning that end-user can tighten admin set parameters, but not to loosen them up. If they used CloudLinux PHP selector - they might have found it there in cPanel, but it's available in DA as well, because it's CageFS preventing users going out of their directories then.

To prove it - I've checked cPanel demo.. Attaching screenshot from PHP editor section: https://custombuild.eu/cp_multi_php.png

@smtalk @DA_Mark You guys continue to amaze us with your development speed! Keep up the amazing work team.

On the topic of feature request, what is your thought on a proper server migration process for users?

Instead of manually backup and restore, delete old user, which can get pretty tedious at times, maybe a simple "transfer/Migrate" option, where it migrates an user and restores them to a new server, after that, delete the user from the old server?

I kind of did that manually, generated backups without the public_html folder restored them all and delete them all -without public_html size was really small- then used rsync to move public_html, saved a lot of time and work.

And for now on I think I will just generate backups with https://bu-backup.com.ar/, install the plugin on the new server and use it to restore all data, which would do the trick the way you are saying.

But agree, it would be nice to have it integrated but in the mean time that may help you out!

I have been doing that by just remote backing up the file to desired server and restoring it over there.

bu-backup looks promising, but the website doesn't make me feel much confident (yet) to use them on production machines.

Does it support end user restoration without admin intervention?

^ Nah, admin level GUI. helpful in monitoring 'hits' and excluding rules. Plus editing existing ones, to add in rogue search engines, for example. Free OWASP is a good enough starting point - I like free, for some reason. ;)

It does! I wasn't confident as well but as Jetbackup isn't stable yet I tested it and it works pretty nice

I guess the personal license can be used with unlimited domains for DNS Clustering.

You can use personal licneses for clustering purpose :)

We don't have a special DNS license -- but our cheapest license... the $2/month ($24/year) Personal license which is normally limited to 10 domains... is automatically unlocked to unlimited domains for DNS clustering purposes.

I apologize if this seems like an extra step, but it really isn't. We get feedback from all over the place (e-mail, forums. support tickets, etc.) and it's really easy to say "Cool! We'll do that one day." And of course, that one day never comes

We want to push everything through one centralized location in order to keep ourselves accountable and actually get it done. I think @AlwaysSkint is the best example of someone willing to hold us accountable so we want to keep up with that.

And of course @seriesn your brand has a great reputation so far so please keep us accountable as well..

@seriesn Would you also be willing to e-mail me about that as well? I already passed your request onto the lead dev and he did mention some hurdles/assumptions that would have to be made in order to make this work. So it would be really helpful to get your opinion on how you want this to "just work"  We're more than willing to make this happen
