Any one have these? will it work on 64mb ram

Comments

  • Yes, pick a minimal distro.

  • Seem's feasible based on numbers from this article
Unless my math is off, they're estimating 10mb per user.
With Tiny Core Linux you might be able to pull it off.

...I don’t recall any Pi having only 64 MB of RAM.

Correct, however I was talking in general that it would use more CPU due to the encryption/decryption.
Although 64mb ram... I am very curious as to what this is being ran on!?

If you're looking for a VPN server that can run on a very low-ram environment, wireguard is probably a better option.

If you have to use OpenVPN, then as others have mentioned, its probably possible if you have a very light distro.

  • @Cam offers 128mb RAM - more than enough for OpenVPN server.

Yeah you don't need a lot unless you wanna put 1000 users on it

Would you say that's enough for OpenVPN + Pi-Hole too?

Hell NO! Pi-Hole is a completely different discussion. Get a serious VPS with 1GB RAM if you want to run with a Pi-Hole project.
