What do you do?

agentmishraagentmishra Member, Host Rep

for installing an "os", say centos-x

  1. on a server

what do you do

automatic partition scheme

or

manual partition

if so, why?

also for

  1. a KVM

do you do an image install or an iso install

and again automatic or manual partition

why?

any thing other than LVM?

  • Always manual because automatic is for women (and americans).

in reality I at least set a smaller swap size because i don't see the point of having 16G swap on a 32GB RAM server. Also I don't like to have more partitions then necessary to not run into space issues.

The answer to this entirely depends on what the system is for.

Selling VPS / hosting of some other kind - 100% manual.

Running a Minecraft server for messing about with a few friends? Template install is fine.
