Atlantic.Net Free Tier (12 months)
It came to my attention that Atlantic.Net is offering a free tier (12 months), including one general purpose VPS and 50GB of block storage. VPS specs (plan G2.1GB): 1GB RAM, 1vCPU, 40GB SSD, 3TB bandwidth.
The application process was straightforward. A credit card is required to charge a small amount ($0.80) and generate an authorization code. The code must be validated to complete signup. Maybe because I used a prepaid VISA credit card, my account was on hold and I had to send a copy of my driver's license to activate it (the process was done by email and took about 24 hours).
Ok, time for some fun! Atlantic have the following DCs: New York, Dallas, Toronto, San Francisco, London, Ashburn and Orlando. I went with USA-East-1 (deployment took about 10s).

Update from support:
Holy cow they must really need ip justification . And I just renewed a paid plan (not with them) that this could have replaced. Oh well I'll think of something . They are supposed to be mostly ok.
Do they require recaptcha on every single user login? My browser has recaptcha blocked so I signed up for the account on my phone, figured I could deal with the hassle for a one-off thing. But now I can't login without also getting squawk about a recaptcha.
Yes, for mobile and desktop... PITA.
What a pain. I sent them an email asking if there was a way around it. I can't use a good (i.e. long and random) password on the phone because there is no decent way to transfer it to the desktop. So I tried to set up 2fa and first it makes me choose a bullshit "security question" (pet's name etc.) and next their 2fa involves sending an SMS message instead of TOTP. Dude the 90's called and want their authentication back.
Geekbench 4 is too poor
Offer seems good, but the sign up process is like that movie with Bruce Willis: Hard to Register
Signup itself wasn't too bad except for the damn recaptcha which is blocked in my local network. I could only sign up using my phone. I didn't have to send my DL or anything like that. I told their support that I would stay with DO and Vultr because their site as it stands is almost useless. (At least from my perspective, of course).
If I can activate their API through my phone and then use CLI tools for everything after that, maybe that solves the recaptcha issue. I have to take care of some stuff for the rest of the day but may mess with it some more tonight or tomorrow.
I agree, it's a shame! They should offer, at least, one dedicated AMD Epyc core.
OP can provide a referral link; people signing up through the referral link can get an additional $15 service credit, no purchase required.
Thanks, I'm OK. I've already made a lot of money selling tickets for Amitz's party. ;-)
If allowed Referal Link - https://cloud.atlantic.net/r/q59699mo haha.
Anyway thanks @ITLabs for posting the deal!
At least not one that Oracle does )
been using it since July. Great performance for idling.
My account got locked instantly as soon as I registered. Interesting.
register until vps online, only takes 10 minutes, thanks for @ITLabs
btw block storage only on location EAST-1 (Florida)
Something to note: You only have 750 hours a month of free usage.
For the first 12 months following your sign-up date, you get up to 750 hours of free G2.1GB usage each month. When your free usage tier expires you pay standard service rates. Offer excludes bandwidth overages, backup costs, and licensing cost of the WHM/cPanel One-click Application. Simply select a G2.1GB Plan when adding a Cloud Server to take advantage of this offer.
There are 744 hours in a month max...
Oh wow, brain bloop. Thanks lol
First time to hear this company, do they have a good rep?
Even after I key in correct verification code...
Thicc offer
They have a good rep, they had a $1/month offer in the past and it was reliable. The verification process is very complex though, (I understand they want to prevent abuse, but its a little too much) so I guess contacting them to see whats up is the best idea.
Open a ticket and send your ID, like
'if you're not paying for the product, you are the product'
Interesting read...
my 2 cents.
Cheers!
Open support ticket, they will activate your account.
Just send print screen of confirmation email received as payment verification complete.

Note that aes is now enabled, but vmx has been disabled! Trick or treat?
With aes enabled GB4 "jumped" from 1904 to 2048 änd GB5 went from 389 to 418:
