Seriously, has anybody had issues with these sign ups lately, usually coming from .pl.ua domain names (Email addresses). Im not joking we have had over 80 of these this week with a total sum of over £1024.

We are suspending them as soon as they sign up and yet more and more are coming in after each other.

You would think they would have got the idea by now!

  • I had a customer who bought a VPS for this exact same brand last month. I terminated his VPS within the hour of his purchase; LFD kept alerting me and I was able to check out his VPS to confirm.

    can someone explain what's wrong about them?

    upd: googled. Never mind the question above.

    btw, why pl.ua?

    Im finally thankful I no longer get emails recommending viagra.

    I don't know what the craze is with drugs online. Wait that's probably the reason.

  • @breton

    I don't know but that's the domain they are all using, we have had over 15 more since i posted this yesterday.

  • Make that 21 currently suspended since last night.

  • @VMPort I presume you refund the money, Right?

  • Not a chance

  • @VMPort
    Why do they do it then, They are making a loss for what purpose?

  • That's exactly what i cant understand :S

  • They have pumped almost £2000 into our account over 2/3 week

  • I'm a bit worried about mass charge-back's coming soon.. There is no way people would keep wasting money like that for SPAM purposes.

    Can charge back's only take money from the PayPal funds or can they take money from the linked bank account?

  • or stop being greeny and refund people for servide they havent got? why risk your PP over only 2k? dont you have long term plans?

  • @apollo15

    Have you actually taken the time to read this thread? Why would i refund spammers so that they can go elsewhere to SPAM?

    Looking forward to your answer to this...

  • Because they simply didnt get a service they paid for. If you ACCEPTED the order, and then they ABUSED it, you should NOT refund.

    If you did NOT accept the order, you SHOULD refund. Why? Don't you want to keep your PayPal? Dont you realize what happens after disputes worth of 2k? Do you really want those spammers to get back to you and your customers?

  • @VMPort they are probably using stolen credit cards to pay for it anyway, better refund than get in trouble with paypal over too many chargebacks later.

  • We too have been having the spammers-sign-up-but-never-get-their-money thing going on. I've been thinking that it may very well be stolen CC/Paypal information that the account holders never notice the amounts missing, since it's always small $$$ amounts.

    @VMPort said: Can charge back's only take money from the PayPal funds or can they take money from the linked bank account?

    On a dispute, Paypal will take money from linked bank account if the paypal account itself does not have enough to cover the ENTIRE transaction. For example, if you have $4.50 in your paypal account, and the transaction was for $5.00, then $5.00 will be taken out of the linked bank account, instead of the $4.50 in the paypal account plus 50¢ from the bank.

    @appollo15

    They have been getting service as maxmind have not been picking them up. I have had to go through manually to find them out since they are very good at changing details so they dont match from SolusVM > WHMCS etc.

    We have a pretty good relationship with PayPal and we always ring instead of dealing with things via email.

  • Everyone can ring PayPal. Thats why they got a phone line.

    How can anyone have a good relationship with PayPal, they suspend you for giving them loads of money.

  • @apollo15

    Talk about stating the obvious, did i say that im the only person that can ring PayPal or did i just say;

    "We always ring instead of dealing with things via email."

    ;)

  • @DotVPS said: I get a few of those emails to my hotmail address daily.

    I seriously don't understand why people get spam. In the 10 years i've been using EMail i never got a single pharmacy/nigerian/etc spam

  • @gsrdgrdghd

    You must do a good job at keeping your details in the right hands :)

  • The worst thing you can do is get your email listed publicly.

    @VMPort are all those payments coming from the same Paypal account?

  • I own a blog. I got a lot of spam e-mail messages from .ua domains such as crack facebook passwords. I will disable access to my websites from that area. Probably someone hacks their computers.

    @vedran

    Nope, this is the thing. They are coming from multiple PayPal accounts with @...pl.ua domains with different registered names.

    All the .pl.ua domains go to the same place though.

    Its the scale of the problem that worries me, kind of like we are been targeted for some reason and they are putting a lot of money & time into it.

  • Yeah GMail/Google Apps :)
