@bibi421 - what level of protection do you need? ie how many Gb/s? Layer 7? UDP? 24/7 ...? etc ...
Also - does "western US" for your purposes include Dallas (Texas)? Phoenix (Arizona)? Las Vegas (Nevada)? Or just Los Angeles, Silicon Valley / San Francisco, Oregon, and Seattle?
Here is a potentially useful thread for reference (from 2016) -> https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/74798/review-of-ddos-mitigation-solutions-providers/p1
EDIT2:
tl;dr - best bet all around might be to add $3 to your budget and grab a 4 GB slice + filtered IP from BuyVM (@Francisco
) in Las Vegas. (Just do it, better sooner than later.)If you're needing protection for gaming (ie, UDP) then also check with ExtraVM (@MikeA
) for options in Dallas (and elsewhere)Many providers offer a basic level of protection which may or may not suffice for your needs. Options for "above and beyond" might be available from a few but can get expensive. For example, Ramnode (@Nick_A
) in Los Angeles.@Spartanhost in Seattle (also Dallas) might also be particularly suited for gaming.
Several providers offer service out of Psychz in Los Angeles - for example CrownCloud (@SpeedBus
), Letbox (@key900), HostHatch (@Abdullah) - these generally offer some basic Psychz-style DDoS protection.I'm sure there are at least a few more decent options I'm forgetting or don't yet know about.
Really best to be as specific as possible about what you need and how much interruption you can tolerate. Your budget seems reasonable for "slightly better than basic" protection but I'm just guessing - still trying to learn a bit more myself about what to actually expect when SHTF
Our Los Angeles CA, Las Vegas NV, and Seattle WA sites all support your specs/budget:

I’m looking for vps in Silicon Valley, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
@bibi421 if 10 gbps protection is sufficient then might check Vultr (https://www.vultr.com/products/ddos-protection/) for Los Angeles and Silicon Valley (San Jose) locations (also Seattle)
I don't know how well their DDoS stuff works (seems a bit pricey but may be worth, I dunno) - but I do enjoy using their system in general. I'll be taking a closer look at this one as well.
Thank you
Try out nfoservers.com their mitigation is some of the best you can get. You could also try photonvps (psychz)
Nfo is the way to go
I’ll try nfo and buyvm.
Thank you
@bibi421 - you might be interested to check the buyvm discord ("questions" section) for news about some supposedly next level DDoS protection ystem currently in the pipeline ...
It's magical.
Should be coming online in the next day or two.

Fill me in pls
Our VPS located in Los Angeles fit your budget and are DDoS protected. https://dedipath.com/ssd-vps
How much Gbps DDoS Protection the vps have?
Imagine a cloud - with a flare!
Now imagine: 17 pieces of flare!
And, one might suppose that it's ... just about there?
30Tbps of flare
No more Voxility? And please share some details if this protection will cover Layer 7?
We are doing a test run on things. No l7 from CF at the start but vox l7 was always meh anyway. We will try to build something inhouse or just custom build for each customer needing it.
The trial will last for around 45 days with vox on standby.

Sounds interesting thanks for sharing the info!
