Just noticed that Online.net's discount only avaliable in 6 months

imfanimfan Member

Just another day open metadedi, find that online.net have 2.49EUR dedi,

open the link, pay the bill, everything as normal as they should be.

But open the discount home page tell me it's not that simple.

The discount only avaliable in 6 months ?And with no refund policy ?

Well, anyway, is my mistake didn't see the discount pages, but the direct order link didn't show the discount period too.

Maybe I'm the last noob know the "6 months" trap discount rules QAQ

You have unlocked 'Read the fineprint' Badge.

    @neeon fix this maybe?

  • Open a ticket and explain your situation. They'll likely offer a refund (if your order was a few hours ago, if you have the server for a few days already, forget about that and remember to cancel it before the 20th in 5 months + x days.

Well, I do opened a ticket to explain the situation, but the staff who deal with my ticket seems like can't offer a refund, even I just get the server about 3-4 hours ago...

  • I fell into that trap few month ago and they cancelled my order and refunded me. It was at the beginning of them doing this scam, and nowhere it was written that it would last only 6 month. I think they fixed it since, it's supposed to be clearly written.

However, could be worth insisting. I'm afraid there's nothing else you can do.
Another option is to cancel next month (and avoid them in the future).

They fix the main page, the sales page, but forget to fix the order page in their console panel.

Well I have update these info in my ticket and the staff says will escalate it to advanced team, waitting further update now.

He already paid the 10 EUR setup fee, so might as well use up the 6 months, which amounts to about 4.16 EUR/month in total, depending on whether the remainder of June counts as one of those months or not.

It never mad it to the order page for some reason, they never fixed it.
So we could not directly detect it if its another of these "limited deals" or not.

All the system sees is, oh look a new offer, we gonna announce it, which happens fully automatic.

Scraping the new page, leads to incorrect stock, depending on location.
So I could not scrap that page, sadly.

Could be, that they fixed the bug, we have a lot of these, like OneProvider, where we try to get the information as accurate as possible but at some point there is an end.

Well, it's online.net's fault, not yours.

Your system is excellent (shows the spirit of lowendtalk :P

It's pretty clear on this page,

    https://www.online.net/en/dedicated-server#anchor-start

but, yes, if you use the direct link, it isn't clear.

Still I think metadedi should be on lookout for such scams and blacklist those offers (manually, if needed).

I would not call it a scam, but doing this, should be reasonable enough, to put a warning banner on all Online.net offers. Does not matter if or not.
Until Arnaud decides, to stop it.

Second, I would do this, with all providers, means the "Entry denied list" would be removed. I thought already about blacklisting all ColoCrossing offers and related companies to them. But thats done anyway then.

I added a warning to all online.net offers, should be sufficient for now.

I got one to replace my HDD version for 2,99 Euro for 6 months with SSD version for another 6 months for 2,49 Euro and got a brand new SSD SanDisk X400 2.5 7MM 128GB.

HDD version used HGST HTS721010A9E630 1 TB 7200 rpm, also brand new.

Sadly, no Amsterdam location was available at the time of promo, so I had to choose DC5 (Paris) again.

Oneprovider.com is having promo for the same server just 6,99 Euro forever: https://oneprovider.com/dedicated-servers/paris-france

Also I've never seen Xeon's server that cheap just 17 Euro.

HDD version is available in Amsterdam: https://oneprovider.com/dedicated-servers/amsterdam-netherlands
