KVM partition sheme

apollo15apollo15 Member

Hi,

Where does KVM store virtual servers on the FS, and what partition sheme would you recommend for KVM / proxmox Node with a LOT of disk space - 20T or so.

Thnx ;)

I would image it is similar to this: http://docs.solusvm.com/v2/Content/Installation/Requirements.htm

Though as it is proxmox I am not sure

  • I usually store VM disks as LVM volumes :-) You could create an LVM on the 20T and allocate from that.

The recommended config for VPSs is a single volume group created on top of your physical volume(s). Each VPS created gets its own logical volume within the volume group. Also set the PE size of the volume group to 32MB.

Root area ("/") cannot be KVM unless you want to partition the boot area ("/boot") separate from that.

In other words, exactly as that Solusvm document describes.
