Hi. What server specs would your recommend for building of an server? This will be used with primarily shared hosting on cpanel through nginx.

  • What specs are you currently using for your web hosting packages?

We were using Zares dedicated server with 32GB of memory, but their diskspace was too low.

    Currently I am considering 128GB of memory DDR3 and 2x E5-2630V2 CPU with 2x 1.92TB SSD in raid 1 or 4x 1TB SSD in raid 10

Do you have a strong enough demand for a dedicated already?

If you're just starting out, pick up a reseller from someone to keep your costs in check.

If you're growing by leaps and bounds you can always migrate your users to somewhere else. Just setup some sort of nameservers your customers should be using and that eases the transition.

  • Specs for web hosting have quite a few variables such as client use, resource allocation, offering dedicated resources, etc. However, that server you have under consideration would be more than adequate for most uses.

  • Fifteen.
