Any *Green* Hosting Providers ?
Got a client asking if I can provide green hosting... so was wondering.
Do we have any providers here (London particularly) that are listed here :
https://www.thegreenwebfoundation.org/
Surprisingly none of our popular providers is listed green...with one exception, Hetzner is GREEN

Does this count? https://www.bytemark.co.uk/company/environmental-statement/
Although bytemark don't fall into the lowend category.
is NOT listed as green
I'm not sure of the credibility of thegreenwebfoundation.org itself... but as the "norms" go for an average layman, client is super interested in getting a host listed there.
https://greenhost.net/
Go with Hetzner then
The only host on the list I've dealt with on the list is Krystal. An agency I did some work for used them for dev servers - personally I didn't think they offered that much for the money and their support wasn't fantastic.
Edit: The only UK host I've dealt with that is. Hetzner is on the list (as mentioned) and can't go wrong with them for Europe!
would have, without a thought but I'm looking "some one in UK particularly"

EDIT3:

Well, it says google is green and has a UK location
Don't know about green but here's a black host
https://black.host
Anyone's got experience with any of these listed at
Green Hosting (Partner)
Leaving out Rackspace, I think Netcetera and Kualo are known here ?
Athaneum
Core IX
Easynet
HostPapa UK
Lightbeing Creations
Netcetera
Rackspace UK
Solar Web Host
Dsgnone
Fasthosts
Krystal Hosting
Kualo
Memset Hosting
The Positive Internet Company Ltd.
Uni Link Solution
VI
None of these is listed on https://www.thegreenwebfoundation.org/ as GREEN
But they're green.
EDIT2:
And in the UK.
EDIT3:
https://www.thegreenwebfoundation.org/
Irrelevant.
We have two locations running on 100% renewables, in case you’re interested.
Hmm That's tough one then. @Clouvider @AnthonySmith you guys green?
@mehargags Seems like Bestwebhosting/SmartHosting/Krystal are green. Don't know if London based but atleast UK. Perhaps you can contact them?
https://www.bestwebhosting.co.uk
Surprisingly, no Norweigan DCs are on the list. We have equipment in an Oslo DC that is 100% powered by renewable sources (primarily hydro and wind). They also have LOS Energy Green certification.
interesting enough thegreenwebfoundation.org is hosted at leaseweb, but leaseweb does not appear in their list... so either their list is sh!t or they f*cking don't care for their own hosting??
however, I feel you... clients can sometimes be a bit of a pain, once they found such a list. there probably (sadly) is not much arguing about even if you come up with better providers that are green too, but not on that list
Fire your client.
I think EDIS has 100% renewable energy at their DC in Austria?
Isle of Man is "almost UK" I guess
tagging @JSCL
https://bestwebhosting.com/ is not listed
https://krystal.co.uk/ is LISTED... Thanks
Can you give me details (or PM me)... Will be definitely interested to see.
EDITed.
green is the new brown.
I mean, our site is literally green, does that count?
Francisco
For me, yes.
