Looking for a server better than i7-4790k for under $40
Ive been looking at different websites all day, and I managed to find this:
i7 - 4790k
32gb ram
120gb ssd with 1tb hd
$40 a month
This doesnt have a setup fee, and you are allowed to rent for 1 month (which Im doing).
If you have a server better than this for under 40, ill buy it.
if you have a server 2x better for under 80, Id like that too.

I wouldn't call an i7 a server :P
And yes there are better deals.
Are there diminishing returns when it comes to higher end dedicated servers?
It almost seems like 4 of the cheap ones together will out perform this i7-4790k.
Best deals I had were from there:
https://www.hetzner.com/sb
Last one was E3-1271v3, 32GB RAM, intel board/nic, 2x240GB Enterprise SSD.
EUR 39 incl. VAT.

i7, no ECC, consumer grade hardware, ...
EDIT2:
Do you think the e3-1271 will run more programs than i7-4790k?
Not sure but I am sure it will do it more reliable.
For most uses there pretty much is no difference.
ECC for example will always make a difference.
eol wants to encode, hugh?
yes, this means most of the time slower ram and higher prices. It is just ecc no black magic. There are only a hand full of stuff you run on a server where you really want ecc, everything else will be fine without it. And since rowhammer works even with ecc nowaday there are even less applications.
Negative.
But when I compile stuff for quite a few hours I am happy to have ECC.
