These windows 2008 boxes, can we install a higher version like 2016 windows?
VirMach earlier indicated yes (somewhere in this giant thread), they have to be requested by ticket.
Thnx.
When did the "switching" message change from "sold out - switching soon" to just "switching soon"?
Here's what @VirMach wrote earlier:
Another user added you can request 2012, or 2016 by ticket.
That's pretty good, even though I'd have no use for it
Yea, was going to settle on that last LA offer but couldn't order. I thought I saw it say before when it was sold out, so I was frustrated and then it changed to Buffalo and I said fuck that.
I was going to bite, but then saw it's OVZ xD. I feel like I'm most interested in either KVM with decent RAM and disk space (for Windows) or OpenVZ with large disk space for storage. I don't know what I would use anything in the middle of those for, other than maybe Nextcloud on OVZ with space AND RAM. (I'm not a programmer/coder/whatever). Thoughts?
If you look at their standard plans: https://virmach.com/windows-remote-desktop-vps/
Looks like you get 2008 or 2012 for 1G/2G, and only 4G+ have 2016. I doubt that changes for specials.
If your don't know what you are eventually going to run, get the biggest KVM VPS you can afford.
To choose your VPS most economically (lowendedly) you need to know what minimum specs it needs first.
anyone know if the pricing is for life? or just the 1 year annual paid?
recurring, forever, for life.
I don't really know what I should do with an oVZ VPS. Their kernel is soo outdated that I can't run Docker on them so they're basically worthless for me.
Can someone may give me a reason to order them, except for VPN?
All the deals so far have had recurring pricing (except for the 25% off for first year BFEXTRA25 coupon on the normal specials page),
Its cheap. Add it to the idle queue.
anything but Docker.
VPN, IRC bouncer, Seafile, web server, Minecraft server, Gogs, etc. These are just some of the things I've ran on OpenVZ.
I'd bite for $30
Can we expect any EU deals in the future?
You buy an OpenVZ VPS because you are lowend and it's cheaper than KVM and and you want to run one of the thousands of applications that don't need KVM.
Get a KVM VPS.
I could be wrong, but I thought @VirMach said there wouldn't be any (or many?). Wish I could be more helpful, sorry.
What are you looking for? Have you looked in some of the LEB threads from european providers?
I am not planning to use much, probably one or two hours per day.
However, is there any rule of thumb of the usage period for each "Fair Share" ?
Unfortunately... I'm back for the day.
It's more specific now.
We've also added some captchas and may do more to stop people from constantly adding the product to their cart. This should hopefully make the process a little bit better.
Is the update interval now 15 minutes instead of 10?
@VirMach are the windows deals mostly for buffalo/nj servers? or will west coast have them too? Got 2 with virmach in buffalo. Looking for a west coast windows server
Welcome back! Hope you slept for at least an hour.
Darn, plays right into the Chinese captcha solving bot advantage.
