New VPS: Too many open files (hostsolutions)

I bought a VPS from cociu (hostsolutions.ro) the other day.

Unfortunately I'm unable to install anything on it because I get a warning of "too many open files". I reinstalled the machine multiple times. Tried different distributions (CentOS, ubuntu, Debian), even tried raising the ulimit.

Does anybody know what else might be the problem?
Thanks!!

  • Ok. There is another thread regarding this problem:

  • Just wait it out. I got a storage vps from them before and it was nearly unusable at the first month. I guess too many people were trying to transfer data and install stuff at same time after they got the deal. It made the server overloaded and very unstable. After that period everything went back to normal and I haven't experienced any problems.
